Brice, I don't think it's fair to eliminate the possibility of club-only classes simply based on the fact that their pax would be "made up." It wouldn't just be pulled out of thin air...it would be some fairly reasonable number based on the likely potential of a good car in that class that was well driven. We have enough data to give that a pretty reasonable number, so I don't think that should be anyone's concern.
I do agree that we shouldn't just make up a ton of classes that seem to fit each member's prep level along with a good pax number for said class. But that said, for something like STX2 where other folks are already doing it (along with an existing "made up" pax), I don't think it's a big deal.
But the points thing is likely something to consider, as is the fact that there might be some SCCA proposals out there in the next few months that might be worth TH adopting early (as in these would be 2010 proposals, but there's nothing stopping TH from trying them in 2009).

Yeah, I'm not too worried either way, just giving my opinion. I'm sure a reasonable number could be arrived upon, at least as reasonable of a number as any other pax index but it would always be open for debate as to what the number should be though b/c its not declared by an external body to the club. If some other club ran an STX-2, would we adopt their same pax or make our own up? Its something else that could be inconsistent between clubs, even if the class is being run other places.
I mean, I could always just disregard those in front of me on the pax results as a consequence, I don't think I'm gonna be taking an FTP trophy home anytime soon. . .
