Do I have this location correct? If so, it means the course and the pit and grid will have to fit into a space smaller than just the course area used in Greensboro.

They use another lot for pit and grid.

That course area sure doesn't seem like the size of the Greensboro lot when I was there. I can't look at the Google map right now so I'm not sure if we're talking about the same space.

Jim, I've never been to this lot, but supposedly there has been a number of semi-trailers and other stuff around this lot that made it artificially smaller than it really was. CCR has supposedly worked with the facility to have those items moved to other areas for this event, so maybe it will be bigger (by actually being able to use all the space thats there) than what you remember?

I heard that too but there were no obstructions when I attended an event at that site early last year. If they've had to work around stuff in their normal course area, they must have had some very tiny courses.

The course I ran was ~35 seconds if I remember correctly and I grabbed 1st gear in 3 spots and never got into the power band in 2nd gear. I didn't bother with the datalogger at that event once I saw the course but I'm guessing the max speed on course was ~40mph for a very brief moment. The good news with that type of course is that I would never have to come out of 1st gear in the Integra. :)

Now that I've had a chance to look at the map, the course area is in the upper left, the grid is in the middle left between the smaller building and the huge building and the pits are in the lot in the lower left.

That was in an Elise too! Ugh. This would be a 1st gear inside-tire-wheelspin-go-no-place-fast course in the 330i. No chance in the 330i versus a Type R on a course like this one...not even close.

That looks like the site from the infamous Corvette Club autocross where vette hit a sitting down course worker.

Seems like a pretty typical SCCA type event, everything I have ever gone to hosted by the SCCA has been super tight and technical. I like our course designs MUCH better

Ryan, CCR doesn't have access to many good sites, AFAIK. So they do what they can. Please don't think all "SCCA" courses are like that. Try a national event sometime! Or even other regions that do have access to better sites.

THSCC does great courses, even on limited sites, that's for sure. Other clubs? Just depends. CCR is but one small SCCA region...

What's wrong with it? Looks pretty big and pretty square to me. Is it Laurinburg quality pavement or something?

Yea, um, no comment! :)

I'm on the fence about going at this point although it may be a decent opportunity to test out the "new-for-'09" auto-x car.

Jim

Maybe we could use the roof to build the course, It would be bigger than the lot. Might be a steep penalty if you blow through the finish or spin off course though. DNF. (Did Not Fly)

C'mon guys, let's be serious about this. The NCAC Cup is on the line, and we should do a practice course ahead of time to get used to the tightness. Whitney, can we borrow your driveway?

It doesn't matter-- Triad will be taking the Cup home this year. :P

I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to attend NCAC this year but Jim's quote seemed like an appropriate place to repost this pic...
