As the title states I am trying to find a place to stay for the DC Pro. I roomed last year with a couple people at a hotel about 3 miles from the site and it was in a sketchy neighborhood to say the least. Thankfully we just all piled into one of the guy's trucks and drove to the hotel as I would not have wanted to park my car there.

So for those more experienced at finding hotels near the site where are you staying? Thanks in advance for the advice.

I'm staying on Hatteras Island. Big house, great view. ;)

But the times I have been to DC, well, all I can say is good luck. We've stayed a few exits away off the beltline in places that were *decent*, but I still wouldn't say I felt safe there. We stayed on site once in the toter even though you weren't supposed to for that very reason. Peterson may remember the place we stayed a couple times and be able to tell you. I think it was one of the better places in terms of security that's still not terribly far away. He's likely not reading forums much right now due to workload, but he won't mind an email.

We're staying at the Marriott that's nearby. It's a little on the expensive side, but the rooms a nice and the bar has great food and service. - AB

We've stayed in Mobile Casa de Barnes, with friends in Maryland, and at the Greenbelt Marriott. Anything "close" to the site is pretty sketchy. The good news is, when driving to the site that early in the morning, traffic is a piece of cake! :D

Oh, Chris may know or can ask Eric this...what's that highway route in and out that bypasses the horrible part of I95? We did that once and really dug it, particularly when trying to get back home on Sunday. Highly recommended.

The Marriott is the bomb! It really isn't too much more than the dive places. Hell, the Red Roof Inn up the road was charging $99 a room and that was for the dogs, literally (remember Aaron)

We've got reservations at the Marriott Courtyard in Landover, just an exit or two north of the site. I haven't stayed there before, so hopefully it'll be OK. The Greenbelt Marriott is definitely a great place to stay, we crashed there last year.
