Calling all chicks! (and the men who love them and want them to enjoy autocross). If you've checked the schedule, you know the Chick School is a go for this year. AND, in answer to many requests, it's earlier in the season (May 3) and tied to the event the following day at Danville. :cheer:

For those not familiar with the Chick School, this is a NOVICE autocross school for LADIES ONLY. The target audience is primarily those ladies who have always been curious about autocross but were too afraid/intimidated/bored to try it out. This is a very relaxed environment that will teach the basics of autocross plus provide enough of a foundation that any chick can attend an event (sans man) and know what to do and what to expect.

We are NOT anti-men!! But we cannot emphasize enough how important it is to us that it be an all-female environment. Please, men, don't even ask. We'll have plenty of ladies to help with tire changing, pressure setting, etc.

I know it's early, but those of you who have done this school before know that A LOT of planning and preparation going into making this a really outstanding event for the chicks! Having said that - this is an initial call for LADIES who are interested in attending or instructing.

Men, please pass the word to all the chicks in your life! Lots of current Tarheel ladies started in the Chick School!

If you have any questions or just want further information, please feel free to PM me.

:car:

Chris

Chris/Mo - Let me know what I can do to help! Remember I am home during the day! I would also be happy to instruct etc. You may not want to let me order lunch this time though!

I'm in too! Well, as much as a pregnany lady can be in.
More than happy to work behind the scenes, doing check in, starter/grid etc, but will be about 7 months along and prefer not to instruct.
Let me know how I can help -
Ames

I'm trying to talk the wife into this, but she can't drive my car. Would there be an issue with her driving her 06 escape? I would hope not. I think it would great if she could feel some basic car control in her car. Comments?

I think SUV's are pretty much excluded from autocross competition, and with good reason. I know I wouldn't let her run an Escape if I was in charge.

That doesn't stop her from bumming a ride in a different car, or learning to drive yours. There is likely to be a launch and one shift per run.

I'm with Scott on this - I don't want to risk any roll-overs. Don't we have guidelines for this sort of thing? At the very least, have her rent a car!! Automatics are fine. She'll still have fun!!!!

I would think a good set of guidelines to follow is the SCCA rulebook, which would exclude an Escape. But what do I know?

I've talked to Laura, and. . .well. . . She might go.

Of course, I could win the lottery too. Or a comet could hit the planet starting a nuclear winter. And Esperanto could become the language of the internet.

Any of those things are possible.

I have mentioned it. And well. . . see the above.
