Hey y'all. I'm going to be driving a WRX this year instead of the Matrix and I'm interested in seeing if anyone plans on playing in STX. Sorry about the Jersey accent.

That's cool. The more the merrier. I was looking at last year's results and didn't see hardly anyone in the class. It's definitely more fun with more competitors.

Tom Hoppe ran STX last season, but you'll have to look at the top of the Pro class results for him. AFAIK he still has the WRX and will race it some, but is also playing with an STi in AS. If you are interested in seeing just how good you are, run against Tom, and/or travel up to Dinwiddie to run against Cortney Courmier (sp?) and Richard West in their Mini S. All three are top national level drivers.

I will be running the Rustang in STX this year, as far as I know. Glad to hear I won't get bumped every time. :-) Of course you guys in your darn WRXes are going to kick my butt. :-(

Chuck, I don't need to run against those guys to know how good I am. I already know how good I am. Not very. I'm just trying to stir up some interest in STX so like Les said "we ain't gettin bumped at every event". That wasn't exactly a direct quote. Now if everyone would just agree to run Walmart specials (tires). A gentlemen's agreement, as it were. That was my worm can opener.

Hey Rob, I resemble that remark. Actually, the plan is to keep the Mustang for awhile. Hopefully, there won't be any major changes in my life in the near future, and that will be possible. I like the car alot more than even I thought I would. Allthough Ford just had to go and introduce that new one with 300 hp. :x The only other vehicle change plans I have for this year, will be selling the MR2 and buying a pickup and I doubt I will auto-x the pickup, so I may just end up autocrossing the same car all year, setting an all new precedent.

Vern,
Don't be too humble, you managed to shake things up some in a very competitive street tire class. That shows some skill. As for the gentleman's agreement on Walmart tires, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to pass on that. I'm running STX because I don't want to have to change tires, so I will be running the same wheels/tires I drive daily on, but will probably buy some top notch street tires. Probably Kumho MX's unless something better/cheaper comes along in the next month or so. I will probably not run Azeni's because they scare me too much for rainy street use.

Warning, thread hijack in process. Let's list all the cars Les has owned that have been auto-xed at least once...

'91 Sentra SE-R
'97 Eclipse GSX
'85 VW GTI
'02 WRX Wagon
'91 MR-2 N/A
'91 Laser RS AWD
'91 MR-2 Turbo
'03 'stang GT

This is since 1998 folks. :!:  :!:

Personally, I'm just looking forward to a season where Les doesn't beat me every event in the same car  . You guys have fun in STX.

I'm slightly ashamed to point out, you actually missed one Tom. :-) '95 Eagle Talon TSI AWD, which did get autocrossed for an entire year, allthough it did change classes due to a slight HP bump mid-year.

CRAP. I knew I missed one.

Now we need to go back and do the same analysis for Dan Ecclestone...

In order (since about 1999)

MR2 Spyder
WRX
STi

Not sure if there are more than that (those are just teh ones he actually owned). I dubt he ever autocrossed the Tempo.

Sorry Adam, thats not even the only VW I've owned. I had a '76 Super Beetle in HS. I even talked my mom into buying a Golf in '98 which she still drives. I just decided a few years ago, that FWD just isn't for me.
