Completely Unofficial points standings after Event 7

I haven't proofed the names from Event 7 for aliases. If you see yourself appearing twice, let me know.

Almost all the titles have been decided now, provided the front runners have been fully paid up members. There's a couple of notable exceptions:

LAD is still amazingly close. If Malia and Gwen come first and second in that order in the last event, they will actually tie the season, including on tie-breakers. If Gwen beats Malia, she wins; for Malia to take the title outright, she must win and Gwen must come third or lower. Jackie is a single point out of the running for the title, but she can still steal second if she wins the last event and Malia is third or lower. It's that tight.

Top three in TIR are still all in with a shot. Christopher Lin and Robert both have an event in hand and so can add 9 points to their total, while Chris Halweg has to drop an event and so can add no more than 7. It all depends where Christopher Lin finishes -- first or second, he takes the season; third and he can be beaten by Robert Turner if he wins; fourth and either of the other two can with a victory either win (Turner) or share the title (Halweg). More permutations are left as an exercise for the reader...

The classes are in alphabetical order, not category order. This shows eligibility by number of events run. It does not take into account member status.

I didn't include the Novice results because we aren't giving trophies or counting season points in Novice this year. My program still accumulates them, and they contribute to the "more than half the events" number, just skips them in the final printout. They have no "E" status code because they don't count for season points; that way if a mostly Novice driver runs another class, the program doesn't tag them as having to count their Novice position instead of their open class. For what they're worth, here they are:

I asked several times about novice and was told that yes there is a novice year end points awards. I asked as recently as this past weekend and was told yes again. It also states it on the THSCC web site. So, as far as I'm concerned, NOV is going to have points.

That is indeed what the website says. That goes against everything I heard at meetings and so on over the course of the year, so if I hear the word that it's official I'll gladly apologize and put Novice back in my (unofficial) listing. If that is indeed the case, there are probably several drivers who are required to take their trophy eligibility in Novice instead of the open class (Debbie O'Connell for one), and I'll adjust my program for that too.

There is always a big discussion on this back before the season starts, and I definitely recall the "trophy and you're out" and "no season points" several times. I'd like to hear how that's been resolved.

Edit: In the THSCC Autocross Rules, section 8, it says:

Novice Class (NOV) - If you are new to autocross, you may compete in our Novice Class. In Novice Class you will be competing only against other drivers with the same amount of autocross experience that you have. You will be eligible for a period of five (5) events, or until you win a trophy twice in the top 3 positions (i.e. 1st, 2nd, or 3rd), whichever comes first. Please note that this is a change from the 2005 policy. You are not required to run in Novice Class even if you are eligible.

So the website in fact contradicts itself. Note that there were also no season points or awards given for Novice last year.

Ok, lets complicate this even more. Can one equate a win in STS to a win in NOV? Because the competition is different wouldn’t one need to go to the results and see what the times would be in each event to move someone back into novice? Since NOV is a PAXED class that might change the standings even more. Just a thought.
