They took top 16 pax for the 2 day event, did a random pairing, and ran single elimination based on pax times. Keith won bacause his runs were all clean. I think the guy he beat had him by about 2/10's in the last run, but wasn't clean. Good job, Keith.

For some reason I don't understand, the guy racing Keith in the PAX challenge was in an STi but was classed in D-stock?? I saw the computer printout at the finish line for each of their runs, and it clearly showed him running in DS. I thought the STi was classified in AS? I see now that the results show him winning the DS for Sunday also. EDIT: different car, nevermind.

Keith did an INCREDIBLE job in the PAX challenge competition displaying superb driving skill and consistency. Good job Keith! Especially since you were competing against an A-stock classed car running with a DS PAX multiplier!!

I only drove on Sunday in the M5, but I thought the course layout they used (all on the main runway with the start on the connector) was very nice. It was a relatively fast and flowing course without too many cone hits, etc.

Jackie drove both days and did very well on street tires in the 330 placing 3rd on Sat and 6th on Sun in a 13-person LAD class. Relatively recent THSCC member Ash Gravely bought home 2nd place in E-stock on street tires in his 944.

Awesome weather for the middle of July too!!

Justin and Karen had corded the Hoosiers on his WRX earlier in the day and had already packed up the car. When he was announced for the challenge, he borrowed a car. It was a little hectic there at the end, and they were trying to get anybody there to participate as several eligible people had left. I don't remember if he was on streets or not, but for a fun thing, "it wasn't that bad®".

I think he might have been on street tires. Keith said something about the car being an STU class, but it didn't appear T&S picked up Justin's new class. It was fun to watch though. It reminded me of the Stephen Westerfield / Chris Suich battle on the last day of the EVO school. :)

Wes is correct. Justin was running his 2006 WRX and they corded their Hoosiers pretty badly so he jumped in a friend's STi. I am pretty sure that they had altered his Pax to show that but I did not see the computer at all so I will leave it as he was faster than me but caught a cone.

Here's a video of the Sunday course: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFtRrw7iNBY.

Critique and comments are welcome and desired! Please tear apart this run for me, especially you Keith (as I hear the Beatles singing “oh Mr. PAXman, yeah-ah, Mr. PAXman”). One spot I think I could have gained a bit was going into that right-left gate setup at the 24 second mark -- if I had given up a bit of entry speed perhaps I could have slipped through there with less scrub/time lost. Changing directions with over 4000lbs isn't easy , and going back and forth between the 330i and M5 is a crazy change to adapt to.

I feel like I have “plateaued”, and I'm sure I have some bad habits that are deeply ingrained...like going down into 1st gear in that first decreasing radius corner. That part was just stupid (I think), but it is deeply ingrained and just done automatically it seems. I should have done at least one run in 2nd as the S62 has a big fat torque curve anyway...sigh. Same comment applies with that turn right after the start...I should have tried a run where I short-shift into 2nd right before the turn I think.

Chuck

They caught the fog light ring popping off in that second picture of Jackie (fortunately someone gave it to her and it popped right back on), but that cone hit tore up the RF fender liner too.

That was Ash Gravely doing the sideways finish in style also.

One clip, both days.

Saturday is a demonstration in what happens when you don't look ahead.

Sunday I got that bit back in my head.

Maybe an ITR in DS.
Or half-assed STX prepped 330.

It was a fun event! We are getting closer with our shock settings, the car is picking up time with nearly every adjustment and run. Now Donna needs to start adapting to the new quicker turn in to stay off the cones and I need to learn to trust the car more.
Chris P ran an awesome final run on Sun to top the AS open class for the day and finish 10th in PAX. They were looking for her for the pax challenge, but she had already left.

Wow, we only had one "Wall of Shame" on our last Danville course. These guys had, what, ten of them? Are they taking course design lessons from Jim P? :P

How many cars were entered each day? I saw they had start/finish on the crossover .. how did they set up paddock and grid?
