Really? I was there as well last year. However, I took a lot of pictures of old Trans-Am cars :)

60's-70's F1 - mmmmmm :D Took the earplugs out for that race (and a bit of the Trans-Ams, too).

so what was the final word on the format of this event, is it a sort of test and tune or will it be an actual timed event?

I think we're gonna have to bail on this one, the format just isn't what I was looking for, I'm not all that interested in the NCAC and would prefer a more conventional event.

The event is called "NCAC Practice Event."

I'm shocked that you aren't interested in practicing for something that you aren't interested in

yeah, I know, I'm lame, but I'd just be pulling Tarheel down in the NCAC standings anyways

Never ever complain about seat time then. This is the best of both worlds...practice basic drills and then run a small event in the afternoon. Plus you have a good handful of instructors at your disposal.

The only thing that really is directly related to the NCAC is the site and the lunch time discussion. If you ever plan on venturing out of THSCC, the discussion would be beneficial to you.

Plus the lunch time discussion will cover the mental preparation of an event.

The only way to improve is seat time, seat time and more seat time.

I can tell you that almost everyone reading this left time out there at the last event on the turn arounds at Danville. You want to know why the outsiders finished so far up in the results...they were better through there.

GH Sharp and Rob Faulkner did some testing a while back and came to the conclusion that there is at least a second to be lost in turn arounds like that. So how would like to learn to cut your time by one second?

Likewise, it has been shown that for every foot you are off a slalom cone, that is a 1/10th of second.

Lets say there is a 5 cone slalom after a turn around and you are 1 foot off each cone and your car is "pushing"....you have probably tossed one and half seconds away. And that is all driver :-)

Back in the day...this event would be full by now with 50 participants.

I am off my soap box....

I agree with Jim. Anyone looking to improve their skills should not miss opportunities like this one to get seat time plus help from other experienced autocrossers all at an event with a small number of participants -- what more could one want to help learn (or unlearn) skills. Unfortunately Jackie and I can't make it that weekend...wish it had been the weekend prior.

Yeah - $30 for something just short of an Evo school? Sounds like a good deal to me.

I hope Highlands gets their act together and hosts the NCAC. But I have not heard a peep about registration. This might be your only game in town for August.

Unless you want to drive to Rockingham and run on about half the size where we used to run.

Anybody heard anything new since this post from the Highlands message board 3 weeks ago?:

We'll be using MyAutoEvents and registration will open just as soon as details are finalized. We'll be certain to make an announcement as well.

Hells bells, I don't freaken believe this, seven people signed up for this school... yes I said school, cause thats what it is. An intermediate school with some of our best drivers as instructors. And with the shitty registration numbers it means mega seat time. Isn't that what you wanted Brice? Having an interest in the NCAC or not, your not going to forget what you learn. And just so I'm not singling out one person. Where the hell is the rest of this club????Or are you all so good you don't need help to improve :?: Time to stand up and be counted before this thing gets canceled due to lack of interest.
