That's the same thing I was thinking. Perhaps they are considering doing a rather small course in order to have pit room -- can't imagine it any other way at that site.

Wasn't it last year THSCC took so much heat for trying to have the NCAC at an airport course? (my first thought when I saw the announcement) This is a rhetorical question that isn't meant to be answered or stir up a hornet's nest...just a comment off the top of my head. :?

Jackie was really hoping to make it to the NCAC this year, but this is the weekend after she goes off the college. :(

While I'm not that excited by the site, the date is nearly perfect. There aren't any other AutoX events nearby which seems to imply they put a decent amount of thought into it. Kudos to them!

I'm looking forward to the event as usual and I hope everybody that can make it will come out and show support. It doesn't matter what your experience level is, this is an event for everybody in the state. If you've never run with anybody other than Tarheel, it will be a great opportunity to get a slightly different perspective on the sport.

Come on out and have fun!

Jim

The same places where 200 people were pitted at the Commonwealth Coventry Games last year? Let's not do the same things that they did against us last year by second guessing decisions months in advance, let's give them at least a little benefit of the doubt.

Good point Wes. Any helpful thoughts we can think of from using that site may be useful to those planning the event in order to help them make this an awesome NCAC experience for everyone. 8)

They may have to pit all the way down the taxi way. That will make the course design options interesting.
I like the site and it isn't as far as it could have been. I'd rather have it there than a small parking lot.

Got to agree with Wes on this one. The event will truly suck if we try and make it suck, so why not just try to make it good. We spent the better part of last summer dealing with people that appeared to have an agenda of THSCC failure. We proved them wrong, and we held a very successful event. Let's not be those people this year.

Aside from trash talking about who will win what, the only thing that we should be talking about is HOW WE CAN HELP!!!

Let's keep our eye on the cup.

Scott

Yeah, I feel bad for starting things off on a negative tone. I really just thought it was sort of funny...I honestly don't have a problem with the site other than the fact that it *does* sort of marginalize the *NC*AC. But it seems that some clubs prefer to host "their" NCAC close to home rather than trying to be central to all of NC. Obviously that's easier for Triad and TH to do, but it should still be a goal of CCR and Highlands, IMHO. Now we have to tell the folks in Wilmington that they have to go all the way to Virginia? That's the part that bugs on me.

But hey, it's an hour from my house and the only event I was considering that it conflicts with is a Pacific Northwest ProSolo. If I can bum a ride I *still* might do the ProSolo, but if not, I'll be at the NCAC. I'll be there plenty early, too, since those of us with trailers will *really* be fooked. Especially since if the forecast is anything NEAR looking like rain I can't put the Sportchassis on grass. *argh* I'm sure folks will pitch in and it'll be a good event...it always is.

Don't worry, if you get stuck I'll pull you out with the CRX.

Heck, just the other day, my neighbor's 6-year-old daughter got her little red wagon stuck in the clay. I was able to hook the CRX up to it and pull it out in less than 20 minutes. I know, I was surprised too! Of course, I now have to replace my clutch but it was for a good cause.

Sportchassis <--> little red wagon: same thing, right? :D

Trying desperately to stay on topic - does the NCAC just run as 2 days of regular AX format? How is the scoring done, combined best runs of both days?

I suggest you go to AutoX Results and scroll down to Archive. You'll see 2006 NCAC results. You'll see how it was scored, who was there. etc., Just good info to help bring you into the loop.

Also, while you're *catching up* check out year end club results. I was just talking with someone last night at the meeting about how when Bernie and I first started, we'd been running with the club for about 1/2 a year before we found out about year end standings. That will get to be a whole *other* race for you soon enough!

Good luck, and I'm glad you're having fun with autoX.

No. That proved to not be a great idea last year, so we just skipped August this year and made November a points event.

I'm psyched! I'm not too sure how large of a DS class we'll have this year but it should be competitive none-the-less.

Now, to set aside some change for some fresh V710's.
