I received this from Shane Eudy of Highlands Sports Car Club this evening. I know this announcement has been long awaited, hopefully everyone can make it. Please come out to support Tarheel at this years event.

Quote:
Gentlemen,
I am pleased to report that at tonight's general meeting of Highlands
Sports Car Club the proposed site and date for the 2007 NCAC have been
unanimously approved. The event will take place August 25th & 26th at
the Danville Regional Airport in Danville, VA. Please understand that
we tried very very hard to find a suitable site in our neck of the
woods, or at the very least in North Carolina. And believe me,
Highlands members were less than thrilled about having the NCAC
(especially one that we will host) be 3 hours away from us. However,
in the end we decided that it would be in the best interest of all
clubs involved to have a better site that was more centrally located to
everyone. I sincerely hope that our relatively late announcement has
not messed up anyone's plans. Details will follow in the coming weeks
but in the meantime, you can expect a format very much like the great
events of the last few years. I look forward to seeing you all at a
great event this year!

Will be in touch in the short term,
-Shane Eudy

Nice. So CCR has the NCAC in South Carolina and now Highlands is having it in Virginia.

Yeah, we were hoping to hear it would be in NC somewhere. However, I hear most of Highlands sites are on the small side....so it could have been worse. Danville is a good site, I just hope it is big enough for the event if it ends up being as well attended as the last 2 years.

I just hope they get someone decent to design the courses.

Cool, close to home, and it will be a great warm-up for Nationals!

Kind of what I was thinking. I'll go this year.

*doublechecks to make sure that this is in a private forum*

This is the exact scenario that Justin Barbry and I discussed two months ago, site and everything. Unbelievable.

I must say that I am rather pleasantly surprised.

Unfortunately I wont be able to be there, AFAIK. I have our 10th annual Fantasy Football Draft that weekend in Lynchburg, VA.

The site location has me thinking about trying to make it....

That's the same thing I was thinking. THSCC has to limit entries due to lack of pit space at the site. Where will they pit 180-200 people? :?

Marcus and Karl did a pretty kick-ass job at Laurinburg.

What about Tim Aro? He did a course for NASA @ VMP a month ago that was a blast.

Damn it, damn it, damn it! What did I step in now?

Trying desperately to stay on topic - does the NCAC just run as 2 days of regular AX format? How is the scoring done, combined best runs of both days?
