I forgot about the e-brake thing. You might want to drill a tiny hole in your e-brake so you can stick a pin (or small finishing nail) in it to keep the button pressed when you release the handle. You'll need to use the e-brake on the start to keep from rolling out of the staging lights and having to release the brake while still pushing the button is a bit of a pain.

Well, you have a nice car so maybe not. :) Some people have managed to tape the button down but that tends to come off in the heat of the day.

Aaron, Jim, thanks for all the info -- that surely helps a lot. That's weird that the start is not on a flat surface, lol, I've never thought about having to hold the car staged before at the strips I've been too. :)

I'll take you up on your offer Aaron for help at the event -- I'm sure we'll need some!

Chuck

FedX field has a surprising amount of elevation changes, but that makes it more interesting. The grip is some of the best asphalt I have ever raced on, and there is a lot of space for large courses. It is by far our most favorite venue. The actual lot is easy to find, there is a circular road that goes around the stadium itself with the parking lots arranged around the outside, just cruise the road until you see a lot full of orange cones. :D
If your wife would feel better working with a female mentor, we will be there and Donna would be more than glad to give guidance.

Thanks Chuck, and Jackie is my daughter ( 18 ). She has been autocrossing for about 1.5 years now, and she took the Phase 1 Evo School in April. Funny you should mention it as I was just thinking today how it would be great to have Donna talk with her and maybe ride along during some of our club autocrosses and give some pointers.

I'm sure Jackie could learn a lot from any guidance Donna could give at the ProSolo also. Her biggest issue is under-driving the fast sections, and I've almost cured her of over-driving the slow sections; in fact, on one run at Sanford she absolutely nailed the slalom down the taxiway -- I was very happy to see that. She also did a track event on VIR full this past March with the BMW club, so that helped her develop some more confidence in faster corners.

I think she'll just have two more (maybe three depending on when the NCAC happens) events with the club this summer before she heads off to college at GA Tech.

David, there are not a lot of good hotel selections in that area. Chris & I are staying at the Greenbelt Marriot about 7 miles north of the site. I think it's about $120 per night, which is not bad for the area.

There are a couple hotels almost directly across from Fedx on thje Greenbelt MD side that are nice and convenient. I forgot the names, but I can post them when we get back from Huntsville. The least expensive hotel we have ever found there was a red roof about three exits north of the FX exit, it was decent, but someone hit our tire trailer in the parkinglot overnite. We have the double whammy of having to find a hotel that also accepts pets (for less $ than another room!) since our dog also goes with us.
Try to avoid the DC side.
Well we are out the door on our way to AL and a lot of rain :(

Doh. I got a room if you still want to share one David. Unfortunately, I'm currently sitting in a hotel room in Nowhere, Alabama so I don't have the information in front of me but I can send it to you when I get home on Monday.

That hotel in "nowhere" was great though. I've put it on our "good choice" list for future reference. :D

So you did pick up the new tire gauge there huh. You were outta there in a flash. :car:

I thought the site and the event was a good one. I think we'll be back there. The club/region that put it on did a great job I thought, really put their heads together to think of everything that they could. Free food all three days for the competitors and their families was nice. They had lots of coolers of cold water lined up every day, the sweeper cleaning the course, real bathrooms AND twelve port a pottys...some even out on the sides of the course for the workers, trash cans all around, etc.

As usual at tours and pros, I worked grid...I think they should give us a gold star or something...especially working the very first heat on the first day. You just never know what will come up. :banghead:

Thanks very much to everyone who offered to help out Jackie and myself at the DC ProSolo event (this is an awesome club to belong to!!!), but we have decided to cancel. There is a one-time-a-year BMW club event at the Performance Center that weekend we've been looking forward to for a long time, and its date was just confirmed. We're looking forward to doing a ProSolo one day in the future especially as Jackie will have much more experience by next year at this time.

Thanks again,

Chuck

Since you are missing the DC Pro, maybe you should check out the DoubleCross in ATL the following week. There are still spaces available, the site is nice, but I hear that Saturday can be a LONG day. Plus there are several THSCCers going.

Something to consider.

That's too bad Chuck, DC pro should be the best national event of the season, and pros are so much more fun that regular AXs, 12 shots at a simplified course over 2 days... 8)

Chuck, you guys might be able to get into this one. It's going to be a riot. Double elimination challenge on a modified ProSolo format.

Folks you may know include:
Me
Jonothan Roberts
Rob Falkner
Chuck and Donna
Chris Peterson
The Meinhart brothers
Jinx Jordan
Geoff Zimmer
David Spratte
Mitch and Heyward Wagner
Keith Vail
Scott Sawyer
Jim Feinberg

There's a two driver Integra Type R and a WRX for you guys to play with. Think about it. The site is very large and has some neat elevation changes to it. It's close to "stuff" and easy to get to. Plus, you can come watch me get brutalized in AS (again)...

I wish we could but prior family commitments that weekend prevent us from going. Sure sounds like it would be a fun time though. :(
