Ok, I finally got email confirmation from the Rock as I could never get them on the phone. Its on like Donkey Kong this Saturday night. Gates open at 6 practice runs begin at 7. We probably won't start the bracket race until 8:30 or 9 to give people plenty of time to practice and set their dial in. They will be setting aside two lanes for us to line up in to do our runs.

Anyone know where you can find something other than shoe polish to mark the window with dial-in? I used to get something called liquid chalk which worked ok, but I don't know if that is still available.

Thanks for getting this info out....This should be great...as long as I can get the mustang back together....I have the week off and have forced some projects...thanks Les

Todd, to answer your question about two drivers, the management at the Rock said it would be fine, you just need to buy two tech cards. Not sure what we will do if you both end up facing each other in the bracket though...

Thanks for checking on that Les. I'm sure I can talk Adam into running and if we face each other in the bracket, then I believe the car owner gets the bye!!

I am not as concerned about a braket race, but would like to run. I have to work Saturday so I would get there later. Any other details? How much is all of this gonna cost?

Last I was there it was $5/person to get in, and $15/person to race. So $20. I doubt its changed much. I don't think the bracket race will cost us anything.

Will the club loaner helmets be available?

What rating do they require?

Are you asking the safety requirements of Rockingham? I believe the only rule is, you can't carry your beer in the car with you while running the 1/4 mile. ;-) Seriously though, they are an NHRA track and technically follow their rules which require a helmet for cars that run under 14 seconds, but they are far from strict on the rules on test n' tune night, at least that used to be the way they were. I'll be bringing my helmet, but I also hope to be hitting over 110 mph. :D

Here's their website if you want to try to find some mention of rules.

You do realize Todd that your best choice for success in the bracket race would be your Minivan right? :-) Bracket racing is about consistency, and the more power/torque you have, the harder that gets.

I thought about that, but then Rebecca said that she is probably bailing on the event this weekend, so I decided to run the Stang.

Yea, I'll probably lose to a Miata, or worse, a Chevy :poke:, but at least I'll have fun!!!

Thanks - I emailed them and they got right back to me about the 13.99sec rule (no problem here!) - my bosses' car may be in the 12's, though, but I'll have mine plus a ratty DOT motorcycle full-face if he needs it (and it sounds like as long as it's not a Harley skullcap you're OK  )

CORRECTION:

Snell SA according to Steve from Rockingham. Good thing my AX helmet is OK.

Now whether they enforce it or not...

Yet again Les knocks me out of a bracket race!

If my reaction times weren't so horrendous I could have got him:

So what were the stats? Watching the video is neat and all, but it was fairly useless to know what was really going on.
