I'm quite amazed, I achieved all of my event goals! (Except painting the challenge trophy Carolina blue ... the graphics are already Carolina blue.)

As far as my post-Evo school goals, I worked on getting behind the slalom cones, though I'm not sure I looked that far forward on the taxiway. It seemed to require a lot of here-and-now attention, the cost of that being that on about half of my runs (I never learned), I was heading the wrong direction exiting the first "Blackhawk Region" box and had to correct. Once I got to the crossover, looking ahead was easier, and I thought the crossover was a lot fun, as I had to work the throttle to keep the rotation just right.

Better luck next time Karl. You now have 8.549 seconds to make up :P

Thanks Wes, Scott, the sponsors and everybody for a great event!

Art,

Watching you on the taxiway during the bracket race, you looked very tidy thru the slaloms. Even more impressive since your car really doesnt like turning.

Maybe if you read Rob's post slowly and engage your brain ahead of your keyboard you would have caught on. It wasn't a 1/2 team effort, it was both of us. He flat out admitted we screwed up. Your last Jimmy V course I ran sucked... So don't get too high and mighty.

This fall will be a minimalist course. Then someone will whine not enough cones were knocked over and the course was too easy. At least that way though the course workers won't have a horrible day...

Hey Graham - if someone complains about that, let me know who it is and I will go punch him in the nuts.

All I'm going to say on this is that event organizers need to know that there are more solo accidents across the country than you know about. People don't publicize them for the insurance reason (with exceptions like Portland), but they happen. When something happens at an autocross, the first thing that gets looked at is the course design. IMHO, we've already had events at Sanford that were a bit too fast for my own personal safety level had *I* been a course designer (no, we've had nothing that bothered *me* as a driver, just as an organizer).

I'd humbly suggest people try to avoid saying things to themselves like "well, going in a straight line fast is pretty safe." You still gotta shut that speed down somehow and somewhere. God forbid something bad happens and it's a shame we have to worry so much about being sued in this country, but the reality is that we do. This club has one of the better insurance policies going, that's for sure. But people should still take care to not need it, since it not only affects the club in a big way if it gets used, but it can still affect you personally, too.

I was just giving Rob shit. If the best comeback that you have is commenting on my course that was the event just before your last course from two years ago, and you said nothing about it back then, then I don't know what to say.

Stupid cones. Next time I talk trash, I'll make sure and base it on RAW time, since apparently, I'm running into little orange things more than I'd like.

I still think the DNF called on me on my last run was bogus, but it doesn't matter anyway - I was like plus 3 on that one. Just of the ones I remember.

As I've said elsewhere, at least I seem to be hitting them with the back of the car, and not centerpunching them. The S2000 was a little bit more wild on the impossibly gritty Sanford surface than the "only very gritty" Danville surface. I was riding with Eric when the car stepped pretty big, and he gave up what I'm sure was a 58 as a result. It was a pretty big moment.

Regarding Donnie's post - truer words have never been spoken.
