I heard several folks question why we dont run Greenville twice. I think we just may have to do that in 08.

It was also nice to run in Greenville when it wasn't "hotter than two rats effing in a wool sock with the end tied-up".

amen to that!!!! i was thinking that when i was working first shift and not about to die!

The weather was great yesterday and it made it nice to race.
But if we have to race in July when it is hot, I'd rather be in G'ville than some place with no shade. The black surface is tough on the feet, but at least we have a place to get out of the sun, good bathrooms, a grill with AC. Our other sites are brutal in the sun and heat.
Bernie is too old to do Laurinburg in July!

I know I’m preaching to the choir here because mostly the same guys who already know this stuff are the guys who are reading the forum anyway, but here goes…Great courses don’t just happen. These guys worked their butts off for several hours AFTER the course was laid out to find that 30+- overlap.

I had the opportunity on Saturday afternoon to watch Walter, Mike, Dustin and Les set up the course. Walter’s original hand drawn map, and the way they first set the course would have given us the slalom coming back on the left, pivot, back up the slalom on the left and taking the sweeper in both direction. The problem was that the overlap was 44 seconds and 600 total runs would have kept us there way too late. These guys worked that overlap down to 30+- seconds and still kept Walter’s basic design. Really cool thinking. It’s great when 100% of the people come out and have a bombastic day. I just want to mention again all the hard work that goes into making it a bombastic day for the 80% who don’t realize the huge amount of mental and physical work that is involved. Great teamwork, no arguments. You guys rock!

I also think Greenville would be a great place to go twice a season. I’ve always liked the “square” course anyway, and indoor plumbing and a café take it over the top.

And, Walter, I think if we co-chair an event there next year, I vote for doing YOUR course again!!! 120 Autocrossers can’t be wrong!

Like he said, originally it had the left hand sweeper and then a return to it making it a right hand sweeper. BUT, that gave us an unacceptable 47 second overlap. While a better course, it wouldn't work. Given the site, a 33 second overlap is OK. I'll take 110 drivers, 5 runs and done by 4:00.

Makes perfect sense. You guys did a great job. I have zero complaints, especially now that I know you guys did have it going both ways through that sweeper. Shame about the overlap as that would have definitely been a blast, but it worked out great anyway.

Great job, everyone!

I called the printer this morning and brought the mistake to their attention. It's almost as much fault mine as it was theirs for not checking. Had I checked, they would have done whatever was necessary to make it right and on time. Very good folks to deal with these people are.

FYI everyone, the CORRECT dash plaques for Greenville will be available at the next event in Sanford.

Sorry for the mix up!

Oh yeah, forgot about the best part of the on-site grill. Deep fried hot dogs. That was a first for me. They didn't really taste much different, but thought it quite funny when I saw the woman grab a handfull and drop em in the frier. :-) I'm not sure how they cooked the burgers as the grill looked unused. Anyone see them deep frying hamburger patties?

They were precooked and then nuked.

Like everybody said, great event, great course, great etc.
Thanks for the one that supported my son in is fund raiser for the school.
The only point for me, and that was only for me, was the turn around.
Once I'm up to 2nd gear I cannot go back down to 1st except if I stop completely.
So a turn around with a bigger radius will have work better for me.
Will have to fix that 1st gear synchromesh one day.

I don't think it was your fault. Who would have looked past the stuff on the top? I wouldn't have checked the bottom to see if the right design was there. I would have assumed if the top ones had the right photo, the rest would too.

I didn't check the course maps to see if I had a box full. I looked at the top 2 or 3. I could have had a bunch of blank pages.

Great event! liked only driving 1hr. I grew up in Jersey where deep frying hotdogs is an accepatable practice (go figure) . It hasn't seemed to have had an affect on me except for the occasional chest pain and left arm numbness.

You will need to put many of them to really affect me and if you do that you will probably get a lot of grief from everybody because they will not like it.
You just need to go faster  or you need to have the right car :)

True, True.
I don't think I'll ever be able to compete for FTD - Too old and wrong car.
I don't think I could handle a rear engine and rear wheel drive car either. Mine is hard enough. If I wanted an easy car to drive, I'd get a Miata or Mini!!! JUST KIDDING RYAN and yes Dustin, you beat me drag racing. (with a 4 second head start)

Excellent Course Guys. Thanks to everyone who put on a great event.

The turn-around was a little slow on exit for us non-synchro(read poor) 1st gear guys. After starting with a DNF on the first run, at the first gate I was a little bummed, but things picked up and I got some decent runs in. Until the last one where I spun+stalled coming out of the lane changes. All in all a great course especially from a beginners perspective.

Thanks again.

I have an idea for next year so we don't have a turnaround. I don't like them and don't do them well. But, I don't need to go to 1st gear like a Porsche does!
