I think some enterprising person should buy a chunk of land out in central NC that would at least be driveable for most of the clubs and pave a big square patch on it.

We're workin' on it. Land: that's easy. Paving ~6ac... I don't have a few spare million.

It only cost a million and change to repave VIR and that was at least 10 acres of pavement. You're good now, right?

The key part is the existing pavement. (and they didn't do such a grand job of it, as it turns out.)

We have an "unpaved autocross" site, now. (10ac, about 6ac cleared) We'll have it Duff'ed up in a month or two.

Has anyone ever tried talking to the owners of this site?

The cars have been gone a long while. http://www.hawthorneretailpartners.com/index.htm may manage it.

There have been plans to redevelop this site for years, but there it sits. No harm asking. It does have quite a slope to it. Perhaps we could get sponsorship from the VW dealer next door, or the Carolina Ale House across the street.

It would be a very small course coupled with working around the poles. Measures out to approximately 270' x 370' usable area. The Greenville site where we got complaining about it being small was 245' x 670'.
