Thanks for tracking these down Brice. It's a ton of work that only occasionally gets put into the spotlight.

Wow Brice....you do allot.
I admire and thank you for your efforts. Brice we all need to help you. I want to, but I think this is bigger than you and me. I am still think a pannel/board of people to do this would be good. Then have someone in charge to speak for the club.

I'm guessing Moyock, NC is too far:

https://www.academi.com/pages/facilities/moyock-nc/driving-track

Tidewater Sports Car Club is using it sorta like we do Auto-X at NCCAR.

We could combine autocross and shooting.

VIR has all the facilities we'd need.

The Ferrari and Lambo autocross experience is being held at the Raleigh NC State Fair Grounds. How can we get into that site?

In modern times, "I think" it's way too small for a decent autocross course. Even ages ago (I recall running at a THSCC event there in 1983), the area used was a narrow down and back course, but even that is now taken up by buildings I believe.

A billion dollars.

We've tried to run at the PNC Arena (or whichever major bank who now owns it) again, and the owners had a list of demands. Also, I think we've discussed the Ferrari/Lambo "EXPERIENCE" before where you get to pay a boat load of money in damages if you think about revving it past 5k rpm and dare to make the tires chirp. There's more rigorous and spirited driving going on in the Harris Teeter parking lot because it's double coupons!!!!

Haven't kept up with this thread but I know you guys are always looking for ideas no matter how crazy or low odds

Saw this lot out the window of an airplane coming in and out of RDU this week. Looks like a closed park-n-ride? There were zero cars on it both last Friday and today.

Todd Breakey would be a good person to ask about it.

That is RDU's old Park-n-Ride lot #5. RDU no longer provides shuttle service to/from that lot - I assume after construction of the parking decks, it wasn't needed. It may be used for overflow parking now.

I used to use the Commerce Dr back entrance to RDU all the time to avoid traffic - it is the entrance that private and cargo airlines use.

I had a friend that worked in the facilities department there, but he's retired now.

Anyone have a friend at the Airport Authority?

Google showed me that there is at least precedent for them using the lot for a private event (parking for a charity run):

http://fsseries.com/index.php?action=event&event_id=686

Quote:
Parking: All participants park at RDU Airport Park & Ride Lot 5 off Lumley Road. Follow the Walk parking signs. Please arrange drop-offs & pick-ups of runners at the designated RDU Airport Parking Lot ONLY.

You could try calling the organizers of that series for a contact.

Was (is?) an avid autocrosser, not sure if he's still on here.

I last saw Todd about 3 years ago and just checked a PM from him I still have...clicking on his username says that it no longer exists. :(
