Ok. I just got some information that makes for a sinking pit in my stomache. Apparently the Mazda club is having an event at Laurinburg the day before our test and tune in February. Was anyone else aware of this? I know we've worked around other groups schedules and whatnot, but didn't know if this was public knowledge or not and whether or not anyone knows what area they are planning to hold their event at so that we would have time to set up and tweak before the darkness and coldness sets in to fierce. Just curious is all. :D

Cosby,

Our school/TnT has been fully cleared with Ryan and staff (to my best knowledge) and MSCCNC will be happy to lend you some able bodies once our event is wrapped up and course broken down to work with you guys to help with setup for your event. We are going to try and be done on the early side so that you have some time to get the job done.

I don't have a course map worked out yet but I hear there is plenty of room out there and I'm sure that we can figure something out that will make things easy for both groups.

I will probably post an announcement here in a couple of days and Mazda-owning THSCC members are welcome to register in the initial registration cycle and we may take other marque vehicles afterwards if anyone is interested in a two-day test and tune.

I'll also be soliciting for some suckers...errr....instructors to help out. You know who you are, start checking your calendars. :)

Anyone that is involved with the THSCC T-n-T, please feel free to e-mail me / include me in your setup discussion and we will do our best to accomodate you guys. We can't put our event on without THSCC's assistance!

Regards,
--Ashraf

I split this off so we don't muddy up the event chair thread. Sorry I hadn't mentioned that to the Feb event chairs yet, but honestly I didn't have many details. I was just about to send an e-mail to Cosby and Rob to see what they had planned for the event.

Cosby/Ashraf/Rob,
If you would, just send me a pm or e-mail with what you have planned for each of the two events and I will make sure everything gets sorted out.

For something as big as a test & tune, I'd get there on Friday & set things up, mark it, map it & then tear it down to let Mazda club set their stuff up. You don't want to start setting up at Laurinburg at 5pm on Saturday. This way all you'd have to do after the Mazda thing is move some cones around. And we should have a whole bunch of cones by then (as if we don't already), including the rallyx cones, so there should be enough to set up something elsewhere that could stay set up, making life even simpler. If somebody manages to use all the cones on the trailer on a single course for the Mazda event (again), I recommend... well, I can't really think of a punishment that would fit that crime.

I would be there to help Ashraf... but this test n tune is actually too late in the year for me. The Dixie National Tour is that same weekend! So, I am now looking for another place to attempt to dial in my new car prior to heading to Southern Georgia for the National Tour event.

I'm in the same boat Adam. My car is currently in pieces getting ready for the new season and with all the suspension changes I'm making, it might as well be a new car. There is a CCR TnT followed by an event the next day (Feb. 10,11) that should work well enough if you're interested. The lot isn't that great but it beats the heck out of showing up at a Tour event with no seat time.

Me too, but I'm in Vegas the weekend of the CCR event. First national event ever. First event on the DA Konis. Get your camera kids, watch the noob sit and spin! :D

That sounds good -- EXCEPT, that is the weekend of the Roebling Road SCCA double drivers school that I am running at. So, I guess I will be showing up to the Dixie tour with no seat time, in a completely unfamiliar car.

Is there anything going on the weekend just prior to the Dixie Tour? I will have the chance to do some testing, I am planning to run at the ProSolo 'practice' event the Thurs before Dixie. I guess that is better than nothing. :)

Hey I didn't mean to start a big ramble in the event's thread, so I'm ok with you moving it Stephen. :D

Ashraf, I wasn't trying to call you out and say that it was a bad idea, ok, maybe say that it wasn't a real bad idea. :P If it ends up that we do try to break it down and set up the evening of your event then we would probably solicit some of your suckers to help us.

So Kevin, are you suggesting that you are going to drive down there on Friday to help set up and hang out in Laurinburg all weekend! I here it's a happening town that we can do a lot in! :D

The rest of you, um, have fun!

Tidewater is running at Pungo that weekend but I wouldn't bother with it. There are a few other far away events (4+ hours) before the Tour but none of them are on that weekend that I'm aware of.

Oh, that should be plenty!!!

I'll be there as well for the practice event. Cindy mentioned in her email that there are now 7 STS2 drivers signed up for the practice event! That should be quite a prelude to the weekend.

Cosby, Ashraf,

Laurinburg is our largest site. If you guys work together you can have the Mazda event running on 1 part of the site while setup occurs on the other side of the site. No need to go down Friday to setup for TT and spend 3 days in exciting L'burg. You just have to agree not to want the exact same piece of real estate for both events.

For example. You could run the Mazda school at the other end of the runway where Jim built that 30 second course a couple of years ago. All cars pit and stage where we normally do. The TT can use the usual area. You may not have all the cones but you can set up sections, mark them, move cones. Not perfect, but a compromise. That way you don't try and setup for Sunday at 4pm on Saturday. You just pick up the cones from the Mazda school and move them to your marked up course and make adjustments. Or just setup a course Friday and run the Mazda school and the TT on it. If it's acceptable to both parties.

Just an example but it is probably the only site we use that it is very doable if you work together. And that wouldn't even touch the GK loop area in case they were around that weekend. If you're cleared by them that they are not jumping then you have even more options.

Can't you just leave the Mazda setup and run it Sunday to reduce the hassle factor? We seem to run two setups in L'burgh anyway, so just build the THSCC section at the other end and utilize what was already set up for the Mazda guys..

so, how many people usually run at these test and tunes, I'm trying to decide which event to run to maximize the number of runs I get in. I'm only allowed to spend one day autocrossing that weekend though, which day should it be?

Based on the THSCC pre-reg page there is an entry limit of 50 for the THSCC event. I'd expect it to be full.
