Why?
With the '07 bastardized ProSolo season, I wouldn't care about getting into the Finale. 115 people are already qualified (myself included), but don't want to win the year end in the year when it's chopped up.
When I ran STS, our average class size was 14 drivers per event. I liked it because you're competing against a bigger sample set, so when you go to Nationals you're used to a big field. The same was true for CS in 2002 when I ran the Tours in Eric's Spyder.
AS was going to be a huge class regardless this year because of the parity (similar to GS in 2002) with many cars that all are proven winners: C4, STi, Boxster and 993. It's a good place to test the GXP. - AB
being able to do the finale makes the trip out to Topeka more palatable.
This year without qualifying points class size is more a moot point. I REALLY don't like the qualifying system of the 06 trophy winners getting first qualifier, what does 06 have to do with 07? How many of those people are going to even be in the same class, or are they going to let them cherry pick the class they want to run in as well?
Donnie yes, I did expect AS to be a strong class but it hasn't been the largest class of late. When we ran CS, it was the largest class, when we ran GS it was the largest class, even HS was a big class the last two years. Now look, HS 4 entries, CS and GS 10 each, AS 18. I just find it amusing more than anything else.
Unless AS gets a very favorable L1 factor, Donna is planning on running open just because of the strength of the class, she wants the push for nationals.
