Oh, and I wanted to echo Karl's comments about self-talk. I had no idea how much that affected my driving until Tim pointed it out to me. Once I got my head cleared and quit thinking about the course behind me, I actually started DRIVING!

The "nail on the head" nugget Tim had for me was that although you need to be positive and focus on what you are doing, you also need to relax. He got me to realize how tense I am when I drive the course, even at a school where you would think there is no pressure. As soon as we did "fun runs", my four fun runs included what I am sure were my three best runs of the day. No they were not data logged, so I'm going on "butt" instinct, but I'm sure of it. Now I have to figure out how to do that in competition.

Paging Mr. Peterson Looks like you've got a beta site for the Eric Peterson School of Trash Talk. That's it...your going down. Integra vs. Mini (crap...I need some tires). You've got your first paring Mr. Eargle.[/quote]

When I complete work on the new "Evolution Phase I Trash Talking Course," currently under development, that I mentioned on Sunday morning, Chris and Stephen will be my co-instructors :-)

Seriously, you guys did an awesome job in the Challenge! I had an absolute blast watching you both drive the wheels off your cars. Chris, have you decided what to do with your winnings? Remember, Evo will be sending you a 1099 next year so make sure to declare that income on your 2007 taxes :-)

Eric

Next time your mine Chris. I went to change my tires after that and found that my drivers side front was showing steel all the way around and the passenger side wasn't far from it. A little more rubber and I would have had you!

Great driving though Chris, and everyone else out there for that matter.

:redcool: Boy, the trash talk just keeps on comin'.
:boohoo: "A little more rubber" :boohoo: My rear tires were shot as well... and those were borrowed tires. I guess I owe a replacement set.
Hmmm... and who won the Jimmy V Bracket Challenge in ought-5 Mr Slalomania event chair... hmmm I did. See you @ Sanford. :toast:

Sounds like I have a post to start composing ...

Chuck

Chuck, Don't feel bad about not noticing us till we left. I saw Jackie at the coffee prep counter and said to myself boy that gal really looks familiar but my sleep deprived brain didn't register until we were driving up the hill to the site then it hit me that was Jackie Branscomb. But I never saw you. If I'd have been awake and recognized Jackie I'd have looked for you. Jackies going to be a force in this sport you should be proud, matter of fact you should/would be proud even if she wasn't in this sport and rightly so.
I don't think getting enough people for a school next year will be a problem. I believe that there will be a very high return rate of this years students and more interest generated by the forum and word of mouth by folks from other clubs. I know I'm pumped and ready to go again.

Uh oh. I tried to get a message through to Rob on Friday night not to instruct you or Gwen. I'm in trouble now!! :D

I forgot to mention the bad news from the Evolution Schools. Remember those 200 nice new shiny cones that we got? Well, with the two schools going on each day, we ended up dipping into the Rallycross cones for set-up. Unfortunately, at the end of the day Sunday when we tried to seperate them again....it wasn't so apparent which ones were the new ones anymore.

Blasphemy!

Maybe we should just label the rows "Less Dirty Cones" and "More Dirty Cones"

Hey if that is the worst news from the events, y'all aren't getting paid enough :)

Thanks very much to Eric, Rob and Jonathan for my terrific Phase 1 on Saturday!
Special thanks to Stephen for leading the charge in making these schools happen.
As for next year, I will be happy to sign up right now. Where do I send my check? :D

Attending the Phase 1 and Phase 2 schools was just an incredible adventure. In many ways it was more fun than some of the vacations Bernie and I have had. (And we’ve had some GREAT vacations!) I learned so much, just hope I can retain and implement at least half of what I learned over the rest of the year. I was lucky to have Eric, Jonathan, Rob and Jr over the two days. I think one of the best parts of the school was the debriefing sessions where each student talked about what they learned, what they saw, and ways they were finding to improve. While taking these schools anywhere would be helpful, we had a most valuable addition of taking the schools with friends that we autoX with on a regular basis. The value of this is knowing pretty much where they were *before* the school. That made their feedback and improvement even more valuable, because you could see the differences as well as hear about them. Even our chats under the canopy on Sunday that weren’t actually a part of the school were significant. How often do most of us have the opportunity to sit and have conversations with others who are together only because of a dedication to a common interest?

Stephen, you, Dustin, and whoever else in the background made this happen, are to be congratulated. Thanks! Bernie and I are both ready to do it again. I’m thinking Phase 2 again, for sure, and we’re up for either Extreme or Challenge. Sign us up!!!

Thanks, Dustin, for jumping the battery on the truck Saturday evening. Also, for those who were still there late on Sunday, thankfully, the Mini isn’t broken. Just a dust cover that was hanging down below the rear shock. It’s amazing what those pesky cones can knock off under there!

We’re looking forward to “Top Gun Challenge” this coming Sunday, and the SCCA two day event back in Danville the first weekend of May. Hope we’ll see many of you there.

Huge thanks to Stephen and the instructors from me, too.

I can't wait to put what I learned into practice at Sanford - I now have a level of progression in my head for what I need to concentrate on to slowly step up my abilities.

I'm 100% commited to doing both Phase 1 then Phase 2 next time.

How about this fall :D ?
