Thanks for the comments guys! It was definitely a fast and fun course, especially the offsets going down. That's the fastest autox course I've run since some of the monster Laurinburg courses in the mid-1990s. I'm not accustomed to rotating the car well into 3rd gear like a lot of the talented road racing/HPDE folks, so that got my heartrate up a few beats
Sticky tires are always a help, even on a *really* open course...and even though the Miata doesn't have much power, I didn't have to use much brakes at all on the course. On my last run, where I coned the 47.7 at the finish, I barely touched the brakes for the two offsets going down. Then, after the 180 I was foot to the floor all the way until the lane change which required a little brake, then it was flat to the finish. I rarely feel this way, but on that last run, I didn't feel like I left much more in the car. I'm sure if Tim Aro was driving he would have found the few tenths I left out there. Also, trying to "knife" the car through the finish cones after being foot to the floor in 3rd for so long was quite a challenge, I'm sure it was really dicey/exciting for those folks on streets tires.
