Thanks for the comments guys! It was definitely a fast and fun course, especially the offsets going down. That's the fastest autox course I've run since some of the monster Laurinburg courses in the mid-1990s. I'm not accustomed to rotating the car well into 3rd gear like a lot of the talented road racing/HPDE folks, so that got my heartrate up a few beats :-)

Sticky tires are always a help, even on a *really* open course...and even though the Miata doesn't have much power, I didn't have to use much brakes at all on the course. On my last run, where I coned the 47.7 at the finish, I barely touched the brakes for the two offsets going down. Then, after the 180 I was foot to the floor all the way until the lane change which required a little brake, then it was flat to the finish. I rarely feel this way, but on that last run, I didn't feel like I left much more in the car. I'm sure if Tim Aro was driving he would have found the few tenths I left out there. Also, trying to "knife" the car through the finish cones after being foot to the floor in 3rd for so long was quite a challenge, I'm sure it was really dicey/exciting for those folks on streets tires.

Yes. It was exciting. :D

My first run was by far my slowest (other than the double spin run), but it was also by FAR the most fun. Going for quick times isn't nearly as fun as going drifting.

Haven't seen that attitude from you a Rallycross lately Mr. "sliding isn't fast" Allen. :P

But I can go slide around in the dirt and have fun any time I want - I can't just go out and drift around on runways any old time. Might get in trouble.

Speaking of, it has gotten a little boring just driving quick & kicking all your asses at rallyxes lately. So somebody make it worth my time next year, ok? :P

Is that you offering a co-drive in the 2.5RS?

I'm not sure what I'm driving.
Maybe an ITR in DS.
Or half-assed STX prepped 330.

speaking of sucking at autoX. sorry, thought i heard my name being called.

absolute blast. no control, throttle on and let the comp mode catch the car. i collected a few cones, even dragged one back to grid. if every course is like this one next season i could become a contender in a year or two.

almost think i need some rrrr's for the corvette. V710's maybe. my biggest eye opening experience last season was when i finally ran R-comps on the bmw on track. grip is a wonderful thing. of course i am sure i could try some finesse on the runways & parking lots, but the hammer down sliding and almost spinning is way more fun.

and besides all that i finally had a faster time than Robert Plank & his P-car.

and Vincent, you are going to have to work on your aim there bubba. you missed me with Stephen's car by probably 50 - 60 ft. next time try not to lead your target so much, i don't run as fast as i used too.
