This has been all over NAM (mini boards) but I thought I'd post it here too. Thinking about getting these for the mini (weighing against other options still), but they are an interesting option for anyone with a smaller 4x100 car, and given the large number of miatas around, I thought people might be interested, 15x8, 12.8 lbs, and excellent brake clearance. Available in either +40 or +20 offset.

Have you shopped 18racing.com and and Rota Slipstreams.

Correct hub for MINIs and delivered for $490 all day long. Well, in OEM sizes anyhow.

If you're going *SP or ST* they have other options for not much more bank and it's a known quantity.

IMHO, YMMV, not affiliated, just a satisfied customer, etc. and so on.

Maybe an ITR in DS.
Or half-assed STX prepped 330.

Looked at rotas stuff, the slipstreams are good, but I don't know about brake clearance of them do they fit over the JCW brakes in 15"? 16"? Not running stock class, we HAVE to run 17's (factory JCW's get a BS classification and must run 17" wheels is my understanding), and the goal of this excercise is to get tire costs down a bit and cut weight

Rather than run B-stock, I think we're gonna run it in STX instead, which makes this the perfect wheel for her, still waiting to hear about whether or not they clear the JCW brakes, but they are designed to clear an 11.5" Wilwoods, so I think they will. Now the question is how big of a tire can we fit. . .

We were as an alternative going to see whether or not Konig Heliums clear, Chris I believe was gonna bring one to the event to see if it will clear the brakes (you out there Chris?). They are a bit lighter, a little skinnier (7" wide instead of 8") but I don't think we can fit more than a 225 without rubbing anyways, any thoughts on that? Is there much benefit to an 8" wide wheel if 225 is the largest tire that will fit? We're trying to find a good set of 15" wheels that will be good for STX competition for her, so that we don't burn up the uber expensive (and not that sticky) runflats at autocross anymore in addition to the performance gain. It'd be great if we could run 245's as STX allows, but I don't think there is any possible way to get them to fit. . .

thanks for your help

I was just going to tell you to kiss BS good bye if you go to 8" rims. But, I see that is already your plan. I know very little about the JCW Mini, but last year we had a guy with an S who went to a larger wheel, had to remove the fender flairs, and it put him in FM. Rota Slipstreams are light and legal for stock. I think I read an article in GRM that said they are the only light wheel legal for stock-at least for the NA Mini. While a nice footprint is a good thing, be sure that Mary understands that a wheel that much larger will drive differently, especially if you're planning on going to R compounds for AX.

If you call 18racing, they should tell you if their 15x8 fits the JCW kit. I know they sell a lot of wheels to MINI owners since they're the only people I know that are stocking the correct hub.

Panasport c8-13 Very light. I believe they run around nine pounds in the 13x8. Classy looking as well.

Yeah, and they only cost 3 times as much.

Lenso makes a lightweight 13x7.5 wheel that can be had for under $600 for the set.

Lenso's are great wheels but too narrow.

Aren't they also intended for drag racing and of questionable strength for racing in which you turn?

hmm, I'll check out the slipstreams in 15x8, didn't know they came in that size. Thanks David, I'll check that out

I haven't gotten any answers yet as to whether its worth it to try and get 15x8's rather than a 15x7, anybody know how much rubber you can really fit under a mini? Trimming the fenders is illegal for STX correct? I'm really interested to see if the Konig Heliums fit (10.8 lbs in 15x7), is it worth the extra weight to go to a 15x8 instead of a 15x7 if all we can fit is a 225/45 tire? I know we're splitting hairs here, but I'm just curious. . .

If you decide to get some Slipstreams...call Urban Imports in Durham. Tell him you want to pay cash and he usually has some of the best prices around on Rotas. (Less than what it says on his website for cash) I think he places orders weekly.

Selling and servicing Lews, Zipp z3s, and Cosmic Carbones, makes Panasports not look so pricey. :)
