I doubt the WRX can get it done in anything but Prosolo. They are a handling pig in stock form. The Mazdaspeed 3 could have a chance if it can put its power down and 18x7 inch wheels are not helping that out. Aaron you will get to see the Crossfire run at the Triad event at Dixie. I assume you will be there since I see you registered. Maybe we can talk some there and I will actually have a better opinion of the car at that point.

Tom Hoppe finished 10th at Nationals in '03 in one with more turbo lag, less torque and less tire. That was on off the shelf Koni singles. I think on the new asphalt surface, an '06 with the 2.5 block will get it done, both for Pro and Tour.

Bryan and I should be there. Stop by and we'll chat. - AB

Speaking of Dixie, how does the grip compare to our venues? I've run there once in the R on Yoko ES100's playing around in STX so it wasn't a good chance to assess the surface.

Keith, I'm glad you're running the Crossfire in DS. I always thought those looked cool for a non-Japanese or German car, not to step on toes ;)

Anyone else going to Winston?

I'm registered, but I can't necessarily commit just yet. I'll let you know as we get closer.

I don't think anyone would call Dixie "grippy". I guess Sanford would be our site that is the closest in grip, but Sanford is grippier than Dixie. I'll be there BTW, just not sure what I'll be driving yet...

I'd have to agree...not as grippy as Sanford even. I'm still debating between our RallyX and Triad's AutoX that weekend...but leaning towards not getting dirty.

The funny part is that it really is a German car. I think 95% of the parts are German and it is built in Germany by Karman. So really the only thing American is the badge.

Are you planning on being there Matt? The more the better. I expect to get taken to the wood shed since the car is bone stock and both you and Brett are better drivers than I but I just want to get an impression on if it has any potential in DS or not.

Ahhh (scratching chin), no wonder. j/k

I'm sure that 97% of motorists find the ITRs ugly and flashy.

Any Crossfires I've seen run at major events were trophy fodder at best, sorry.

We plan to bring the Miata out to Dixie if the weather is decent.
Dixie is pretty bumpy, low grip and course layout is limited by the "divots" in the pavement. Major saving grace is being able to sit in the stands and watch the event from above.

From the ones I am aware of no one has put forth a fully committed effort to see if it is competitive or not. I could be wrong but that I just the ones I am aware of. I will make up my mind after Dixie and definitely after Sanford if I can't make up my mind after Dixie. I might just end up in the Miata again next year unless someone wants a co-driver at bigger events to split costs. I tried to get a co-drive with Les in the Z06 but something about the possibility of getting beaten in his own car didn't appeal to him.

I know where there is a z06 for sale... you could beat up on Les in your own shiny red z06.

Settle down there Skippy or your only option will be to drive a drop-top car because you won't be able to fit your head in anything else. ;-) I suggest you take Adam's suggestion and buy his Z06 and come show me how its done.

Sorry Les, I couldn't resist. I am sure you are a better driver than I anyway. I would have bought Adam's car already but I have a minor detail that I can't quite get straight and that is the fact that if I sold all 3 of my cars I still wouldn't have enough money to buy the Vette.

Ok well the initial shakedown has been done. I can definitely say I am speechless. The car needs to be man handled in some spots and loves threshold braking to get it rotated. I borrowed some race tires for the event. They were the same width up front and proper offsets all the way around and an inch narrower than stock in the back. They had 245s up front and 275 V710s in back. All the guys in DS were kind enough to let me run in DS even though I pretty much thought I was going to run in BSP. The tires were even almost the same diameter as stock so no gearing advantage either over stock. I think I made Matt decide to get another car if I continue to run the Crossfire. Sorry Matt. I ended up winning DS and taking the fastest time Stock. My fastest scratch time would have been FT Pax but I had to settle for 3rd in Pax. All in all a very good day.

Why would it need to be in BSP?
