Ok. I guess by now most of you guys/gals are aware of my situation with my autocross car. It has been totaled. I've made a pretty good settlement on the car and retained ownership. The damage isn't that bad. It now has a salvage title.

Ideally, a totaled car is what I should take on the track, but I really like running a stock class car in autocross. There's a ceiling to the preparation you put in the car. If I convert the totaled car to a track car, that would leave me with the now track car as a CSP car. If they're gonna dump CS cars down to ES, I might think about swapping to another class. I could a)run CSP (current track car with Supercharger removed), b) run SM2 with the track car. Another possibility is to keep the track car as it currently is(SM2) and build a spec Miata out of the totaled car. Too many decisions!

What's the latest in rumors in classing changes?

Kevin,

The soonest the 1999 Miatas and Toyota Spyders could move to ES would be 2008. Though, my best guess, based on what I've heard, is that won't happen until at least 2009 if not longer.

You need a bigger shed to store all the spare Miata parts. Glad to hear you got a fair settlement.

As Eric said, there is no proposal for such a move even being considered, and no significant support for such a move at the present time, so don't concern yourself with it when making your decision.
Is this the SECOND Miata you've totalled?

Yes.

Its really not that bad. Ryan's Backyard Bodyshop could have it lookin' track ready for very little $. Its just the car is not worth a whole lot and the insurance isnt gonna dump a whole bunch of $$$ in it.

Bring Spratte's old car to CSP. Gut and S/C the totalled car. Its alot of work but you have got all winter.

Thought it was the third.

Whatever you do, don't drive my old one on the street. :P

Seriously, glad you got a decent settlement out of the situation.

I'm not sure what I'm driving.
Maybe an ITR in DS.
Or half-assed STX prepped 330.

There's a message forming.... kind of fuzzy.... getting clearer now.....

Keep the Miata on the sidewalk! It's not big enough to play in street.
