Thanks for the feedback. If THSCC gets an Evo school together, I'd definitely go. I suspect I'd get a lot out of it. And I'd appreciate the feedback, even if my tires don't.

I thought about going out this year. Even underprepped or begging, buying, borrowing a ride. With expectations of being little more than a bottom feeder. That last part might not change much for next season.

Problem is early on this year I committed to a project that should be in full on crunch time about the end of September. It would take a lot of pushing to move it ahead and letting it slide would be muy mal. I'll keep an eye out, but barring a spectacular alignment of the planets, I've got an outside shot of heading to Kansas.

Hopefully this time next year, I'll have someone to keep these plates spinning while I'm out crushing cones. :P

Maybe an ITR in DS.

Don't have the time? Ok, try this: Post out on SCCAForums that you are looking for a GS ride at Nationals. When you get one (and I think you might), up for your membership and the $75 and fly out for 2.5 days. I got a one way ticket for my co-driver for $96 including taxes and fees. You can share a room with Bryan and I, for I think GS runs Tues/Wed.

For someone bringing a Nationals Newbie, they get a credit to 2007 Nationals of around $20 or so. People would love to have someone help evaluate their car prior to making their runs, so you could find someone for limited cost and it might help you with setup ideas for your car for that surface, without having to take 6 days off and a lot of $$ to do it.

In looking at the field, I know at least 1 person that wants a co-driver (Eric K) and there are 5 others in MCS's ('05+) that have no co-drivers. - AB

Mr. Smith,

I assume you've been checking here for GS MINI setup...
http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/index.php I suspect everything is being, has been, or would be (if you asked) discussed about it there.

I'd just like to echo some sentiments in this thread:

Do the Evo School. Like I said before, we found that we learned more from some instructors than others, but I think it's likely to be worth your time and probably most, if not all, of your money. (Psst, I talked with Rob this past weekend about watching for the THSCC Evo School to come up. Matt is **so** right about Rob's instruction!)

Do some Pro Solos during the year next year if you can. You're guaranteed 12 runs, they're fun, and you'll get more accustomed to the "where've I gotta be" and "when've I gotta be there" frenzies that go along with nat'l-level events. Plus, you can tag along behind Eric, Aaron, Donnie, Tim, etc, for course walks. :) You'll learn *a lot*!

In addition to whatever nat'l events you can make it to during the year, run as many local (NC & VA) events as you can. Unless you're just overrun with natural talent, seat time is definitely key!

And, I don't know what the new site is like in Topeka, but if the setup is anything like Forbes Field, get in shape before you go! We figured we *walked* 50 miles the week we went to Nat'ls just walking to and from the pits and doing course walks!

Oh, and as for finding new V710s under your house, if you'll put some chunks of rubber from your old V710s under your house now, they should mature into full-grown new ones by next season.

I walked last years NCAC course with Eric and Donnie expecting to absorb tons of information about the course and hopefully make myself faster. Here's what I learned......According to Donnie, Eric doesn't have the sack to take any section flat out. :whoknows: It was the most entertaining course walk I have been on though!!!!!

Deffinately do a Pro, I did one last year in ATL and it was an absolute blast!!!

lol. Todd if you ever want good info on a course walk, ask Eric for one by himself. I'm terrible at giving any useful information on a walk, at least before running it (at Pros you have some opportunity to walk during the event and I'm of decent help then). I'm really good at distracting Eric, though. ;)

All I do on course walks is familiarize myself with where the course goes and where my head is going to be turning. After that I let looking ahead combined with a general idea of what I'm doing take care of the rest (which is probably why I still generally suck at three run formats).

OK, then I'll alter that statement to just folks I *know* (from having *personally* done it) you can learn from -- about the course and how to run it that is :) ...Rob, GH, Jonathan, Tim, & Eric.

Before Evo, Rob lived in Raleigh and was a THSCC member. Ah, for the good old days! :)
