I have to agree. After the way last years NCAC went, I feel it is the only way to go with the limited grid space available. I also enjoyed getting all my runs completed and then just hanging out for the rest of the day only needing to worry about working.

I voted No because of the way the poll was phrased. I very much prefer a break between runs. I suspect that the result of the poll might break down by experience and/or current ability -- the top folks don't need time to think over the course before making another run. My other motivation is that with a 2 - 2 format I get at least two runs on less overheated tyres (yes, I am going to be wetting them down. Even so...). So my answer to "would you prefer" is a solid No.

On a more personal note, I like the runs spread through the day, rather than to get everything done at once leaving no runs to look forward to later, and no chatting to everyone between run groups about what we're all planning for the next run. I like the feel of the traditional event format much better. Again, a solid "No, I do not prefer my runs all at once."

But with the NCAC coming up, and if we need to do that run format there, it really does make sense to iron out the bugs when there's half the cars and less intense pressure. You certainly won't hear any complaints from me if that's what you all decide.

Absolutely. The grid in Greenville is much tougher than the airport sites we're used to. Scott made the best point that the work assignments are shorter remembering how hot it was last year.

I think we *need* to do the the NCAC runs all at once.

I vote we try it out at Greenville as well just to get ready.

Jim

My 2 cents is that whatever we are planning on doing different for NCAC needs a dry run at Greenville. If it works smooth, then it will be no big deal. If we have problems, fix it after Greenville vs. egg on face at NCAC.

That would be Les and I. We went to the local Office Max and got some during the Sanford event. Matter of fact, we got a 2 pack so there would be an extra in the bus!!! How's that for thinking???!!!??

BTW - I still need to be paid back for that!!

Oh, the estimated reading time for Dante's Inferno is 15 hours. I would suggest you get started. It will help with figuring the course out.[/quote]

Wow, I didn't figure Jim for the classic lit. type. What's next Taming of the Shrew?

Keith, the reason the grid space was limited last year was due to encroachment onto the grid area by the dog show people. After the course and the grid were set up they moved in and took about half the grid for their parking.
However we do need to run through the format once at least to get familiar with format both for division of classes and for worker coordination which of necessity will be totally different.

I will agree that grid space was limited to a certain extent by the dog show people but we also never have a ton of grid space there because the space that was taken up by the dog show people would have been taken up by pitting the cars, trucks and trailers. So making all your runs at once and splitting up everyone into 4 smaller run groups will work better IMHO.

Jim P,

When you guys decide on the run format that you are going to use for Greenville, please let me know so I can schedule people for the bus accordingly.

Thanks,

Todd

Timing and scoring can help this out by using AXWare to create the run groups. If that is does not happen, I will have the run order roughed out by Friday evening. Grid will require 2-3 people. We should have two people any ways for grid. One sending the cars to the start, the other person organizing them in grid and doing the number checking.

Everyone should attend the driver's meeting for any last minute changes. Rule number one, you must run with your class or you will be DSQ'd.

Run 1 Work 3
Run 2 Work 4
Run 3 Work 1
Run 4 Work 2

After the first two runs in the first group, we will determine 4 or 5 runs.

This is not really rocket science, especially for a local event. It is a whole different ballgame than a 250-300 driver NCAC event. I would highly recommend figuring out the AXWare solution to run groups. I still remember the HSCC NCAC event at Belle Chere when the first run group had 2/3rds of the driver in it. What a nightmare!

Ummm... I think Scott said "worker change between every run". That was a joke, son! Anyway, there will still be four heats and you will work one. The only way to escape the heat is to volunteer for T&S.
