Excellent event. Not the kind of course I do best at, but it was great fun and I had a blast. I really loved the 270-turnaround. Very well run event. The walk to the bus from the pits did seem rather long, but I'm not complaining, especially given how smooth the day went.

Yes, the abandoned wireless gear and hurried relocation of worker stations kind of clued in the motivation for the final section. I did think it was particularly well done, I enjoyed it. I'd agree with lots of people I overheard saying that the section drove much tighter than it walked, nice to have a thinking section at the end of a long course.

This was a big milestone for me as the first time I slipped into the top 50% on PAX. Of course I did that on a day when Jim totally rocked and blew me away by almost 8 seconds, as well as pulling 7th PAX out of F Stock. :D It's a pleasure to be beaten by such a great performance.

Also the first weeked where I came away having settled the tire pressures at least on the rear. And discovered that wetting them down between runs is worth about two seconds... they were seriously baking coming off the second afternoon run.

Oh, and Jim, you're slipping: a '92 Camaro and a FWD Honda have only one thing in common, four wheels. You can't call it an engine if it ain't at least 5 litres. Kind of like you can't call it a real car unless it weighs at least 3000 lbs. Going to have to revoke your mullet licence if you keep up that kind of dangerous talk!

Interesting that the top AWD car was 14th PAX.

I'm always amazed at how much rubber gets laid down in Sanford. I came back with way more OPR on the back tires from Sanford than I did Laurinburg or Danville.

Of course I had 3 (4?) re-runs in Sanford (and could have had more).

On the other hand, some of that "OPR" might have been from the front tires of the Celica. We lost a lot of rubber during this event. I'm not sure I can trust the cords for the rest of the season.

Yeah, I corded one front and one back tire yesterday.

Tempted to try and get one more event out of them. . . but will more than likely order the V710s.

Great course, great day. Hats off to everyone involved.

David if you can't get that switch fixed, don't bother with the V710's. You know the switch I mean right?

I was one of those who was hoping for only four runs before the afternoon started, but I guess I can't complain much about five since my last run was the best of them. :)

Good event. It was too damned hot by any standard, but it still wasn't as hot as the ProSolo in Texas a few weeks ago. I know that to hike the Grand Canyon the rangers *require* you to be wearing a hat and to have water along with you (or they send you out). In that kind of heat we need the same thing for workers. :)

The course was good. I'm not personally much of a fan of the 270 degree thing, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I was in third gear for a lot of the course, but that meant I wasn't foot to the floor for stretches and did have to do a lot of shifting, so it was personally incredibly challenging. Particularly with that engine in the back. I guess I did something right, though at this point I'm still not sure what. In the CS car I could replay my runs in my head for the most part, but combine the speed with the length of this course and the fact that the car is still new to me and it was all just a blur. A good blur, I guess, but a blur all the same. :)

Best part about Tarheel events is the people are so awesome, though. I can't imagine a more competitive group that's still able to be incredibly friendly. Thanks to Kevin Butler for the loan of some air when a valve stem stuck open when bleeding tires down. Thanks to Les for telling me I'm number one (that really helps one build confidence!). Special thanks to Mr. Eric Peterson for all the help getting me into this crazy sport, too. Then all the great help along the way was icing on the cake. (Yes, now that he's an Evo instructor you do have to refer to him as "Mr." You don't want to make him angry.) Thanks to Christine and company for doing the food thing and having water to sell. I'm sure they thought they had plenty, but I wasn't shocked they ran out! And obviously, thanks to Les and everyone else who does all that extra work to make the day possible.

Geez, he finally gets an FT (everything) and you think he just won an Oscar :-)

Next thing you know he will be acting like Sally Fields..."sniffle, sniffle...you like me, you really, really like me...sniffle, sniffle'.

I wish you only had 4 runs too! Next time just skip your 5th run and let me have FTPAX :)

Nice driving Donnie. Want a co-driver in that thing? ;)

Well, Donnie didn't thank the Lost Sheep, so I think that he's losing his touch.

No, I don't expect many people to get that one

So to make sure I understand this correctly, it is "Mr. Barnes" and "Mr. Peterson" now. Right?

I'll be taking out my full page ad in North American Pylon's next issue thanking *everyone*. That was my abbreviated list. This one will include John Shealy's hair, too. And all my MANY MANY sponsors.

I mostly just wanted to thank Christine and company but didn't want anyone else to feel left out. Food is a big part of my life. :)

I had a blast as well even tho I floated my valve train a couple of times and now have a wicked main seal leak and she is pumping oil into the intake :o

Is PAX what bumps you from sixish to 29th? My fastest clean time looked like it put me around sixth or seventh but my place was 29th in NOV. If so I gotta put a seat and headliner in my car posthaste :)

Umm, yeah. a D Modified pax in a indexed class should make you buy a PAX SUCKS t-shirt.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, but with four runs, he would have still kicked my ass.

BTW Donnie, I really sincerely meant that from the bottom of my heart, you really are "number 1".
