Congrats Walter and Les…
This course will be remembered as the “great equalizer” of the year. The high horsepower guys could really have fun with it. If flipped some of the standings around, for sure. Easy to follow and fun to run, but not a great HS course, at least for Gwennie’s Mini…and, no way could I catch Kendra, (Great job on that 19th in PAX, Kendra) but I had a BALL! Thanks for all the hard work!

Job well done. I very much enjoyed the course layout and am looking forward to the trap times from the radar gun.

Well sorta, but not really.

7 out of the top 10 raw times were in cars that had 1.8L of displacement or LESS. 2 of those 7 had forced induction help.

2 of the top 10 raw times had only 1.6L of displacement

Yes it did favor power to some extent, but it still had enough turns to somewhat equalize the field. That's a tall order for a course designer.

First, I had a blast driving yesterday. In fact, I have totally enjoyed each course this year. If I was beating Rodney, then maybe I might have even more fun!

I replaced the busted Koni last weekend and the car is much easier to drive now. So instead of the conefest that was the first few events (turn dammit, turn!!) I only had two cones this event and that was on the last run after I had already blown the run due to late braking into second turn around.

I have to say that I am totally frustrated this morning. I would LIKE to say it was a lack of HP that was holding me back yesterday. It sure felt that way as I felt I was at Full Throttle much of the course and felt I did well in the slaloms. Slowing for the big offsets, turn arounds, slaloms, turn onto taxiway, but otherwise mostly flat. But then you have Jim F. running a 78.5xx in a car that I tend to feel has some of the same strengths and weaknesses of my car. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

And then Rodney who is driving really well ( top 10 PAX ) is kicking my ass. :furious: ;) (love ya Rodney).

I think I need to get Jim F. to ride along with me at the next event and give me some pointers.

Oh, forgot to bitch about the heat yesterday. :? So I am working grid on run group 4. Then it seems to keep getting hotter and hotter. I am seeing people in their cars getting ready to run and it looks like they just crawled in from a desert somewhere, put a helmet on and crawled into a car. Looks on their faces like "I can't wait to get home" or "Maybe only four runs is a good idea".

I drank an entire bottle of water right before I started as I didn't want to carry it around while working grid. So I am getting more and more parched as it goes, but generally still feeling OK (working on a nice farmer tan however). After the last car runs, I head out and having already drank all of the water I brought, I then chug down the biggest ice tea that Hardees has to offer. :D

I think you mean Jim F....a 92 Camaro is not real similar to a front wheel drive Honda :) They both have 4 wheels and an engine though ;-)

Doh! See, I can't even post correctly. I did mean Feinburg. (I edited my post to fix)

Interesting that the top AWD car was 14th PAX.

I'm always amazed at how much rubber gets laid down in Sanford. I came back with way more OPR on the back tires from Sanford than I did Laurinburg or Danville.

Of course I had 3 (4?) re-runs in Sanford (and could have had more).

On the other hand, some of that "OPR" might have been from the front tires of the Celica. We lost a lot of rubber during this event. I'm not sure I can trust the cords for the rest of the season.

I'm glad people enjoyed the course. I feel we came up a little short on the whole event theme of "Less is More" with the cones, although we did end up with ~80 second course and there were *some* cones left on the trailer. I think most know that the taxiway section of the course was a bit of a bandaid for the lack of wireless timer. Thanks to Mike Whitney BTW for going above and beyond the call of duty, busting his butt to try and get that thing functional. Using the taxiway in Sanford is something I'm not fond of, and felt the only safe way to use it was as we did, with a tight/slow lane change/slalom and some straight line speed. So, even though the taxiway stuff was a bit of an after thought, I think it contributed to the "equalizing" effects of the course significantly giving both low and high horsepower cars something to enjoy.

I was working start and drank four liters of water during the fourth heat and was still thirsty. I don't see how people can't drink all day long and not pass out. My count for the day was sixteen 0.5L bottles of the Gatorade fitness water stuff and three Diet Mountain Dews, and I only had to visit the blue box three times. Crazy.

Richard, I feel your pain! :cryin: In my case...One step away from Rookey,I know it's the driver, not the car. I love chasing the "hot shoes" and every AX is GREAT for us both. Bernie got the sad news yesterday that he's the oldest driver in the club. But, hey, we're there! Could be rocking on the front porch! NOT!!!
Again, thanks to everyone for all the hard work. Bernie and I had a ball (as we always do)!
