exactly, I finished last in HS by a long shot, but in TIR, i would have trophied. Realistically, I think TIR is a great class for me. Even if it is NOV2, thats exactly what I need. . .

Brice,

I think you should run where you want. There are good arguments for running and not running NOV, TIR, X and LAD. Also realize that so far you have inadvertantly stepped on at least one of the THSCC landmines and you are standing on the edge of another (no fault of your own).

They are....

1. Complaints about events (especially the day after)
2. I (club newbie) know how to fix problem Z
3. Who works the hardest (variation on #2)
4. My car has an illegal part. Can I still run in class ABC
5. Rule Y is stupid because if affects my car (variation of #4)
6. Any PAX discussion (obligatory "PAX SUCKS!" comment)
7. Any TIR, NOV, X, LAD class discussion.
8. THSCC vs. Triad vs. SCCA vs. etc.
9. Harnesses in cars that don't have rollbars
10. T&S/Bus is overly technical/overly stoneage
11. How are we spending the clubs money (variation of #10)

There are probably others.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Ok, I guess I'll contribute my two cents having been a TIR competitior & now an "X" competitor.

I can totally justify both classes based on my brief autocross career.

1. TIR- I raced it because I had the ITR in totally stock form and was truly trying to learn the techniques of autocross on street tires racing against various folks. The DS guys were super fast and I didn't want to get totally stomped.

2. "X"- With the gentleman's agreement, no one is racing in DS this year on sticky (fun) tires so I race X. Simple.

Could we do without both classes? Hell yea. But then we'd have nothing to argue about.

I run STT because I like losing to a Nationally competitive driver. The same reason I ran FS last weekend. Also, I just like getting my arse handed to me at every event. It keeps me humble.
