Well, before anyone else has the chance to bash in this thread, let me just say that I'm sorry to hear this Brice. As I mentioned in another post, you would discover that most people here are posting all of these comments with smiles on their faces. Meet 90% of the people in these posts in person and you would like them, and understand that their intentions are truly good.

Ditto. Brice, I met you and your wife at the club meeting when you two joined (we sat at the same table). You two seemed like great people and I don't have any different opinion about you today. I would hate for this to sour your experience.

Like Mike W. said, most people come off differently behind the keyboard. Even Brian Herring (and myself) are really nice guys in person! :wink:

Sometimes we just have agree to disagree. We all get under each other's skin at some point just like married folks do. It's all forgotten in less than 24 hours, and we move on just like nothing ever happened. I hope the same will happen with this thread and any negative feelings you or anyone (including myself) would seem to have toward one another.

Regarding the work ethic, that's one of my personal hang-ups and I'm sorry to beat you over the head with it. However for reference I will say that a person's work ethic goes a long way with me (and others here) in the club. For example (and he and I have never discussed this) Mike W. sometimes get's under my skin with his ideas or maybe he doesn't like some of mine. However since he has personally worked harder than most in the past 8 years since I've been around, I'll always respect his opinions. I may not agree with them, but I always respect them. Had he done nothing but show up, work his shift, then go home, the same could not be said...at least for me personally. Please don't take this as me bashing you, or saying you're not as important because you have not put in this kind of effort. I didn't either when I first started, but I chose to observe quietly and learn for the first year. Not to say that was the right way or wrong way, that's just the way I approched the club as a noob.

Sometimes all people (including myself) read "you suck, I can do it better" when things are written in a forum. In person your idea would have come off completely differently I'm almost certain. In the future you may want to skip the Forum posting and talk to the officers in person. We can discuss pros and cons like adults and not call names, bash each other, or do anything else so negative.

If you care to search this Forum (if you're really board) you find lots of similar threads where an "attitude" has shown it's ugly head and feathers got ruffled. I'm guilty of this behavior at times, I will admit. I try not to hold grudges and so forth though. I don't know you personally, and have no ill feelings toward you as such.

The club is 90% (or more) social by nature of the sport. After all we only drove less than 4 minutes yesterday, but were on-site for 9 hours or so. Without the social aspect we have only four minutes...kind of sad if you miss out on that 90%.

I apologize to you for making you feel unwelcome here. If I see you in Sanford I'll try to make a point to do so in person. Our members are what makes this club and always has for over 40 years now.

I will admit I have not read your thread, but I have my own that I have endured through. It feels like a 'trade' job where you have to earn your right to any/everything, but once you do, you *can* be generally accepted... or a least in my case, tolerated.

Regardless, I feel you pain. This seems to happen every year, and there is honestly nothing you can do other than just let it go, and help out in the future.

For me, I like to just run faster than others, let them call me a hack, and take home wood. I let them 'have their words'.

If you can suffer through the forums, there are actually some really awesome people in the club.... and for some reason, a few of the people who will jump on you the hardest are acutally some of the nicest guys.

Pretty well stated in it's most simple form Brian. BTW, you're still a HACK!

just a little background for anyone who's curious. . .

I'm 25 years old, I live in Cary within walking distance of the Golden Corral with my lovely wife Brantley and our beagle Bailey.

I am a mechanical engineer by trade and training (Pratt School of Engineering class of 2003), I work for a small start up in RTP. I stared autocrossing about 4 years ago in my integra, but had to take some time off from it when the crank bearing in the integra went for a little spin. It was in this car that I first trophied and made myself ineligible for novice class. Argh.

I have a history with formula SAE (engine and fuel injection design team leader for 3 years), you may have seen me run the Duke car once a WHILE ago (it was at Rocky Mount, do you guys run there? can't remember which club was sponsoring it. . .). I also participated in ICAR, the Duke Legends racing program before that program was unceremoniously cancelled (Against my VERY loud complaints and even my successful attempts at garnering corporate sponsorship of the program).

No, we don't race in RM anymore, they turned our AX space into either a road or a building I can't remember which either of which are proven as a bad place to AX, (but conversely, apparently streets with building within a couple of feet are not a bad place to hold a CART race :shock:

What Rick said is right, there is always someone who comes to an event and makes a comment about something that went wrong, they perceived as wrong, they thought could be done better, whined, etc. It didn't matter that 90% of what they said was "wow great event, had fun, loved being with you all." they get lambasted for the one thing they say on a forum because it is easy to bash via the internet. :evil:

Brian and Wes survived and it is kind of fun to read these multiple threads all on the same thing :lol:

It will all be forgotten soon, most of us are reasonable and actually can look globally at your post and see that it was positive. I think that some folks are sensitive about the WC's because it is such a thankless job and Mike and Stephen did such a great job last year (and I'm sure Bernie will carry on) that they do not want to scare them away. We do have an occasional problem with workers, either because some dopey course designers who will remain nameless use every cone in the bus (well almost every) and then design a course that makes sure that every one f those cones gets knocked down at least 4 times and then doesn't account for less than the optimal number of workers :shock:

or because workers don't report in.
