The RE070's performance is totally independent of temp and predictable. A 245 RE07 would be the perfect tire.

The RE-01r comes in 245/40/17.

Too bad that is a rich man's "cheater tire" ;)

If I recall correctly, the 245/40 01r is the same prices as the 225/45 070.

Pfft... IFF you are paying RETAIL. I think 114 is expensive for RT615s in 245/45/17. It is all relative ;)

Ps. Hint: Think STi RE070 take offs ;)

Just to give an opinion from someone who has run the 'kooks. They are decent but like lots of camber and wide wheels to work best. Maybe Aaron Buckley will pipe in since he also ran the Hankooks for a couple events on the Celica.

I ran Kooks on the Celica for two events. I had them shaved to 3/32". If you like a tire that squeals like crazy and has very limited grip, buy these :)

The RS-2 has nothing for the RT615, RT215, or the MX. I think the Kook might be better on AWD cars, for I sold my set to Billy Brooks and he loves them. He ran them Walnut Ridge Pro this year and coned away the win. - AB

ill agree w/ brian in teh 'set it and forget it' thing w/ the RT615s. i set mine at 35 all around in the morning and didnt touch em all day. felt consistent all day up until the bracket race. and then it was my 3rd consecutive (literally back to back) run that made me say 'wtf??'.

we'll see how it pans out when it starts getting hotter out

Hmm...so far no definitive answer. :)

The TNT in question was the one we did late last year and it was quite hot outside, so that must have been it.

Hmm, not only is there a 245/40/17 Advan Neova, there's a 255/40/17, too. Hmm, wonder if that will fit.

From what I have heard of the Neova they run really large for their size. Josh Sortar who won STX last year at Nats was on the 235/40/17 because he said the 245/40 was too large for his 17x8 in wheels to work well. Just what I have heard.

Interesting. Is there a tire size limitation for STU, too?

245 MAX for AWD. I think you are allowed to +1 it as well, if you wanna.

Donnie/Eric P:

Any feedback on the Advans that were run at Danville? I'm considering those or the RE-01r's for my next tire. 245/40/17.

Thanks, Chris

I think Eric said "it was the best street tire I've ever driven on, bar none." Or something like that. :)

If only they were cheaper. I guess the contingency money helps.
