If you didn't, then I believe that Walter and Les will have a "HorseyPowAr!!!1" course available in June.

Now let the complaining begin.[/quote]

No public complaints from me. Everybody gets a turn "in the barrel" and this was my turn. Yours may be in June! But, I think it has elements for all cars and nothing over 60 mph. Make that 50 mph for Acura's and Prelude's - 45 for Miata's

So, who won the bracket race? I was changing tires during the last round and completely missed it.

Actually, I rode along with Timo, Rich A's friend in an 02 WRX, and a NOV in a 93 Accord EX. So... while I may not have filled out my responsibility at the front gate, I tried to do my part.

Oh, btw, I love'd touching everyone's buns ;) [awaits responses ;)]

Ps. Congrats Marcus and Dan. Great battle in STU!!!

Chris Suich
Kit "The Destroyer" had him but nipped a cone on the final run

Chris Suich beat out Kit Ide (a novice, IIRC) in the finals. Rob Harvey lifted at the finish for one of his runs to avoid breaking out  . Gamesmanship was also had by Aaron Buckley who sorted out his time to include a four second penalty, but he broke out after driving too well up to the finish and deliberately punted two cones at the end.

Additional kudos go to the gentleman who won novice class that also won the 50/50 raffle and proceeded to donate all of the monies back to the V Foundation. He's on the ballot along with Rob Harvey to be Autocross VPs. 8)

My brain isn't working well, but before the 17x *$5 entry fees, we had a bit over a grand from the bracket race, 50/50 and the smack talk board. We should be pushing $2k, and that's just from our members. For some reason, sponsors (and site owners) aren't busting down our doors to help out.

I still can't believe that we had to tell people that they couldn't participate, and they were mostly more disappointed than POed.

Yeah it isnt working well, we had 156 drivers.

The registration list had a bunch of peeps who didnt UNREGISTER (and knew better like an officer or TWO!)

We were talking about this at dinner. I can't currently tell, but I wouldn't be surprised if a large number of the no-shows were people with season passes (and officers who basically get the same thing). And why should they unregister?
  • There has never been a problem with too many entries before (though we've never had season passes and unrestricted entry before) so, even in hindsight, this was not a really something we should have foreseen.
  • There is no incentive (or even reason) to unregister.
  • One selling point of the season pass was that people didn't have to think about the whole prereg process.

I think this is a case of unintended consequences. It seems likely now that we could have accommodated all of the walk-ups and kept the total entry field below 175 (there were 150 drivers with times, BTW). However, since those extra 25 drivers would have added almost an hour of running time to the event, we probably lucked out considering the timer problems.

That's just what I was thinking since time-wise it seemed to work out about perfect yesterday. Speaking of the timer problems, are these issues primarily communications related? (i.e. issues with the remote start location not having sufficient/consistent signal strength back to the base)

While sitting in line yesterday during the outage, I was pondering directional antennas, or at least one directional at the start location, and daydreaming of how dramatic its signal strength would be as opposed to the omnidirectional antenna currently used. My daydream went further thinking that it appears that antenna is perhaps in the 350-450Mhz range (looking at its size), so a beam antenna for that frequency should be rather inexpensive.

Sorry for the aside here...

Chuck

We swallowed a bitter pill when PJ, myself, Ryan and others made the final decision to make the people on the waiting list ineligible for the event. As far as we thought back, this has never been done before. The info that we were basing the decision on was on the number of preentries, the number of novices preregistered and the long line of people standing at the bus waiting to pay Amy for the autocross. We were way overwhelmed.

On the flip side, Amy Mindick just informed me that we raised $1889 total for the V Foundation. That's $249 more than last year, and it came almost exclusively from club members. Thank you again Bernie and Gwen for doing independant fundraising.

Did I mention that Miss Amy is soon to be a Mrs.? She did above and beyond what she was supposed to this weekend and really helped make the event a financial success for charity.

Cheers to Terry Holihan (winner of Novice Class) for returning his winnings on the 50/50 back to the pot. Class act.

^^yeh i think you guys did the right thing. even 15 minutes after the novice meeting was supposed to start, a lot of novices were still waiting in line to register at the bus and weren't even teched yet. so things were definately backing up and needed to be cut
