Tarheel Sports Car Club representives are doing well.

Aaron Buckley is taking BS.

Eric Peterson is in 2nd in CS.

Charles Frank is in 8th in GS.

And Donnie Barnes and GH Sharp have officially bagged the Cayman S and gone with other cars.

GH is sitting 2nd in a GS MINI.

Donnie is 3rd in Rod McGeorge's 2006 Z06 in ASP.

Jim Feinburg is winning STS2 while 2005 National Champion Bob Seelig is sitting in last 4.3xx seconds out of first with a bunch of red lights.

Donna Frank is in 7th in the L1 class.

And if you are looking for Adam in SS, you won't find him there. Look down the page for SM2 and you will see him sitting in 2nd place behind Jerry Onks. I guess you go where you know you can win tire money!!!!

Full results can be found HERE.

Way to make THSCC look good guys!!!!!

Talked to Adam a little while ago. He finished 2nd in SM2. He had to go so I didn't get a chance to ask about anyone else.

Talking to Adam right now and he informs me that a Tarheeler won the Super Challenge!!!!

The Super Challenge saw Eric Peterson, in a CS 99 Miata, go up against Allen Kluger in his FSP 92 Civic. The first heat saw Eric on the left side losing to Allen on the right. Apparently the stars line up in Eric's favor when he moved to the right course. He covered the difference and then some winning the Super Challenge.

Way to go Eric!!!!! You have to post a picture of the trophy! Adam said it was very cool!!!!

Other finishes that I am aware of...

Aaron 'AMP' Buckley finished first
Jim 'Alien' Feinberg finished first
Eric 'I may have taken 2nd in class, but I kicked hiney in the Super Challenge' took second in class :sing:
Donnie "Porsche who?" Barnes took third in Rod McGeorge's Z06 (I believe Rod took second with Mike Johnson taking the win)

I'm afraid that's all I know - and I know I left people out. Sorry, folks!!!

Thanks Chris, I forgot to put the other results up.

Others that I know:

GH held 2nd in GS behind Erik Strelnicks. I believe that Charles and Donna held their positions in their classes. I think Adam said something about Charles and the Bonus Challenge, but don't hold me to that yet, we got cut off mid conversation (Damn dead areas!!!!)

Congrats to all the Tarheelers for showing the rest of the country that we truly are the PREMIER Sports Car Club in America!!!!!!

BTW - You are right about the ASP finishing order. Johnson, McGeorge, Mr. Barnes!!!!

Just a note...Eric gave me the awesome news on the way home (we're still on the road) that in honor of all the hard work I did that made his Super Challenge win possible, he's going to name their next child after me if it is a boy. I don't think he's talked to Chris about it, and I understand it changes some of their plans, but I don't think she'll mind. It is a logical first step toward repayment for everything I've done for him, so I'm glad to see this happen.

Thanks Eric!

lol, good one. We're in Knoxville right now...damn, it's not easy posting to the 'net and driving at the same time. ;)

And for those wondering, Eric's head is just as big the day after winning the challenge as it was the day *of* winning the challenge. I'm not sure how much more I can take of stories that start with "do you remember that cold windy day back in Arkansas..."

BTW, Charles was in the bonus challenge, but made an early exit. Don't know what happened, but I'm sure he'll chime in to tell us once they make it home.

It is nice to be in day two of "Eric owes Donnie big", though. So far today he's promised that Kelly has to marry Zach.

Sweet!!!! I'll start planning the wedding now! I think if both parents agree to it, we can have them married well before they are 18......

While I'm sure it's nice to have Eric finally start to repay you for all you have done for him, I'm not so sure that making Eric poor Zach's father-in-law is doing your family much of a favour.

Seriously congrats on the win Eric !!!! It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Congrats to all the other Tarheel folks who did well also. It was a good showing for our little club.

Shawn

Congrats to all the Tarheelers on their wins and trophies this weekend! Aaron Buckley and Jim Feinberg had some really awesome drives this weekend by scoring their big wins. Buckley was seeded 6th of 32 in the Challenge - that's not easy to do. Adam and Donnie did some very nice driving of their own.

Thanks to everyone for the congratulations on the Super Challenge win! I'm still having a hard time believing that it actually happened. Making it through 5 rounds (9 total runs) without a cone, red light, and/or big mistakes against some good drivers certainly takes a bit of luck too. The experience of having made many stupid mistakes in prior Challenges (and learning from them all) certainly helped me on Sunday as I had a much better idea of what to expect from many of my previous early exits. Hence, I was really relaxed and hardly thought at all about my driving as the event went on.

The funny thing was that I was literally on the verge of bagging the Challenge so Donnie and I could get on the road a few hours earlier - I'm glad I changed my mind :-) It was certainly the biggest and most exciting day of my autox career. I can't express how lucky I feel. It was even more special that some other Tarheelers were able to see it happen (Aaron, Adam, Bryan, and Donnie). Arkansas is now my favorite state.

IIRC, Dick Rasmusen also won the Super Challenge a few years ago in Petersburg, G.H. won one in Seattle and Rob Falkner in Harrisburg in the late 1990s. It's pretty amazing that THSCCl has had four (4) current or former members win the Super Challenge. In addition, Donna Frank won the Ladies Challenge a few years ago as well. The events on Sunday certainly gave me a lot of cause to reflect on how many people in Tarheel have helped me out over the years with driving tips and other things - we certainly have a great club!

I always joke that finding a good co-driver is kind of like finding a spouse, only more important :-) Fortunately, one of my co-drivers is my spouse. I can't thank Donnie enough for letting me drive his awesome car and putting up with all my BS over the past few years. I'm sure he gets some benefit out of co-driving with me, but I just haven't figured out what that is yet.

Todd, you heard correct, the trophy is pretty awesome! I will post pictures whenever it shows up. Also, the tires and money will definitely help supplement the 2006 Peterson Diaper Fund :-)

Thanks again everyone!

Eric

Not that Hoppe needs his horn tooted, his head is big enough already. But since you were listing other Tarheelers, Tom won the super challenge two years in a row in Oscoda.

Congratulations on the win Eric, not bad for someone who considers himself "highly mediocre", or do you even still say that about yourself these days? I think you can offically drop the modesty now, and just call yourself a "badass". :D
