Arrived today! Talk about stiff sidewall...
Not going to be much rollover on these.

Where did you get them from Chuck? I put my name on the waiting list at The Tire Rack a couple weeks ago and haven't heard anything. I guess I should have talked to "Hoosier Tom" instead, unfortunatley, I couldn't spare the 7 hours that would have required. :)

It's hard to go wrong dealing with the Tire Rack. I almost always have great service from them. On the rare occasion that there has been a problem they've gone over and above to correct it.

Are the A6s eligible to run at Arkansas this w/e?

I'm interested to see and hear how they drive. I'm sure they'll be lots of talk after the next two weekends in Arkansas. I plan to run the Pro there in two weeks on an old set of S05s left over from Nationals to save a few bucks. Chris and I will run the A6s on the Miata at the Peru and DC Pros and that will be all the National stuff we'll do this year, other than the Pro Finale and Nationals.

I got them from Hoosier. They were just released Monday, but many sizes are in limited supply, don't know what or when TR will get them. Mine had a build date of last week. They are eligible for use right now AFAIK. Beth S. ran a set at Fontana PS, but then again...
I'll be running them on the Celi at WR PS. Prices have gone up.

FWIW, Donnie mounted some A6s today and said the sidewalls still are not as still as the Kumho 710s.

I received shipping confirmation today! The Tire Rack has come through once again. So, hopefully the April Sanford event will go a little better than Laurinburg did. :-) I hope these tires are good, for the price, they had better be...

Yeah, I'm in Arkansas right now (time to shower), but I mounted two sets of A6's already. The 245/35/18's and 285/30/18's on Cayman rims went on like *butter* compared to the Kumho's in the same size. The sidewall is stiffer than S05's, but still not nearly as stiff as those 710's.

Mounted a set of 225/45/15's on 15x6 Miata rims. They went on like butter, too. Everything seems like butter, though, compared to those Kumhos above. We must have spent 5 hours getting those things on. Granted, we're still learning the "art" around all this, but 225/45/15's on 6" rims were supposed to be some of the hardest mounting you could do. Well, let me tell you, that's BUTTER compared to those Kumhos above. Ugh. That A6 better be faster than the 710.

Don't know. Still haven't tried the 710. Probably won't. I've got A6's on the Miata now and it looks like nobody is going to drive the Cayman this weekend. It appears to be done for now as an autocross car.

I'm sure I could find *someone* willing to keep it's tire warm/make sure it's driven on weekends :)

With an HPDE at VIR this weekend, I am sure the line would be quite long if you were to ask!

But I'm sure he will be only trusting another Porsche driver.
I can compare if the newest Porsche offering is faster than my 33 yr old one!!!! I got a set of new V710 that I will probably try on Sunday. Tomorrow I will be on full tread Toyo RA1.

After putting 21 runs on the A6s this weekend I only have a few observations. At least for the surface that we were running on, highly abrasive/low grip concrete, the A6s felt almost identical to the S05s. The only "feel" differences that I noticed was that they hooked up better until acceleration out of corners. I'm sure if they were tested back to back more differences would be obvious. So, they essentially "feel" the same.

The good news is that it was hard to overheat them. We went through the entire Challenge and never sprayed the tires! They dissipated heat very quickly - it was impressive. The S05s would have become greasy and started going away. They took a tad bit longer to come up to operating temps, but were still quite good when cold. I suspect that they will be even better on grippier and hotter surfaces.

Just based on first impressions it looks like Hoosier did a nice job with this tire. Though, we'll need a few more data points to confirm this.

Did you mean that as written or is that supposed to be "they hooked up better under acceleration out of corners"?

Sorry, that sentence was definitely vague.

The A6s had better grip under acceleration that the S05s.

I did not notice any difference in "feel" or handling characteristics, which was nice since I like the great feedback & quick response that Hoosiers give you. I'm sure there are other differences, but I'd have to run the tires back-to-back to see if there were any other changes.

Donnie, Chuck, and Donna have all run on the A6s on different types of cars so they may have a different perspective.
