The 10% PAX obviously IMHO shows some top drivers.

Or drivers that have a kick-ass PAX!! :angeldevil:

It is aslo course dependent, at sanford in may Mary, Carl and I were all in the top 15 in pax with softest pax (HS). However at larunburg, we all fell down in the mid 20's and 30's. I belived this happen because of the several very slow elements at the Larenburg event compared to a more flowing course at Sanford.

Hmm... interesting. I thought that the slower elements on the course would have helped your car(s) out more on the long run, and even the field against the big/heavy cars that could keep NO WHERE near as much speed through elements as the smaller/lighter cars could.

Interesting to note. :)

Oh, I think I wanted to add that on the smallest/tightest place we run (Greenville, which rocks btw), the STis seem to do the best there, and second at events where we put lots of elements that require high exit speeds :D.

I am SOOOO surprised there hasn't been a Miata vs Subaru comparison yet. Maybe it's because it is evident which is the better make of car..... ;) joke, just kidding, no offense meant, dont take this seriously, Cuidado, plaisanterie...

A car with good traction (AWD) and torque (low gearing and a quick spool turbo) should thrive in such an environment. While the car might be heavier than an HS car and unable to carry as much speed through an element, as long as there is an acceleration zone after the tight sections, the natural strength of the STi should win out in those situations, IMO.

Having always been in a low hp but lighter car, I was always surprised to find that the tighter courses did not favor me. The mid speed courses where speed differentials of the run were lowest seemed to be the ones where such a car excelled.

***EDIT*** Just for the record, this was eight years ago. Now VIR South is my slow course.

You would think that right, however we have momentum cars, and if there is a section that really kills momentum a car with low hp is going to have a harder time recovering.

Hey Richard - if you're taking requests :)

How about standard deviation of raw times, ignore cone counts, ignore DNF runs, averaged over all events...

Like Brian, I have had a few events with the first run fastest. And like you I want to keep tweaking until I'm proven the best :)

Ok, here it is...

Raw time (no cones), ignore runs that resulted in DNF/DNS, average standard deviation (I didn't try to pick the same number of events, so if you ran one event or eight, it didn't matter)

Yes and no. I did however spend less time over the weekend playing Xbox that I usually do. :) Overall this is good to play with as if we ever rebuild the application that does event registration by wading through the 2005 data, I am getting some good experience with how we would go about storing the event results.

Yeah, I am beginning to think that no matter what I do (short of deleting certain people's run data) that I am not going to make it to the top of any list I create. :(

Aaron,

Since I did it pretty quickly I calculated the results for everyone (regardless of number of events attended). But then only included the results of those in the top 30% and 10% PAX. And my current PAX % calculation only includes those that attended 5 or more events. So that kind of ensures that the results are for those that ran 5-8 events.

If I had more time (which I don't right now) it would be fun to put in the 2004 results (are those online?) and then do comparisons between 2004 and 2005.

I don't have any time to work on any additional stats today, but if anyone wants some other weird combo (including dropping the restrictions of 5 events or more) let me know. I might be able to do that later this week. Also, I can provide (via email) the raw data that I am using. It is nice to have the Raw, Adjusted and flags for DNF/DNS broken out.

But of course. :) Visit the regular Results pg. At the bottom, you'll find links to previous years' results. I've only got 2003-2005 available via links so far, but, if you want data from further back (pre-the current site iteration), the files are stored (in some fashion) in our webspace.
