in a dream last night i realized that i will be trying to do more HPDEs this year which would require street tires.. so id either have my set of Azenis for autox i could use or i would run on my daily street tires (HP all seasons) and keep the rcomps for autox..

im kinda thinking having azenis for do all track/autox tires makes sense.. so for that reason i'm now leaning toward TIRE class or STU.. hrm i really like the rules of STU so maybe i will do that. but i also like the philosophy of starting stock.. but damn rcomps are expensive.. $200 a tire x4 per year is pricey. i'm hoping w/ azenis itd be more like $150 a tie x 4 every other year.. even w/ track events.

thanks for all the input thus far, folks.

oh and would used race rcomps be a good idea? there are ppl on the bimmer forums that sell them pretty cheap.. but i wonder if theyre any good after a race stickiness wise

Oh, and Azenis wise -- Stacy and I co-drove all year, did the Suabri Challenge events, I elped with setup, DD the tires... and I have about 2/32nds left (on the RT-215s). Mr. Allen has said all the loudness and tramlining problems with the RT-215s are MUCH reduced with the RT-615s. :)

Oh, and 245 is as wide as you can go. IFF you need CHEAP tires, the Kooks are available ;)

Good luck on your decision. The ST would save you money this year, and would allow you to NOT dump a lot more into your car and just enjoy while you are saving money.

Sometimes you have to balance life with racing... stupid backwards priorities ;)

I love the RT615's for dd & autox. The harshness went way down when I put them on the STi, which had been on the stock RE070's (they tramline even worse & make more noise than the RT215's), and I can actually hear the stereo now. :D

My plan is to get some A/S tires (probably Avons) for winter and use the RT615's the rest of the year for dd, autox, VIR.

From all the comments I've heard from people who run R tires, I wouldn't buy used - I'd buy new V710's. - If I was going to use R tires (and I may at some point - SM might be fun :D ).

Dan if you want to run street tires, run the Falkens. The kooks are cheaper but from my experience with them on a heavier car you will fry them and they will feather if they are run at full tread. So if you are looking for a tire that will last the full season spend the extra money on the Falkens. I really like the kooks but mine are shaved so I don't have all those issues of feathering and uneven wear. Buying used r-comps in my mind is not the best thing to do as most of the time they are heat-cycled out or in the case of some guys I know about ready to cord. I guess it is just me but I don't trust what people say when they are selling parts or cars unless I know them well.

how is bumping going to work next year?...I think Cosby is the only other potential STXer next year. So for me its either that or TIR w/ESP pax which is kinda crappy (only way to race/beat Dan)

I didn't think we bumped anymore. If there are two drivers, it just means one trophy. Stacy was in STUL by herself a few times, and she was never bumped.

I think we are staying that way, IIRC.

You are correct. No more bumping. AXWare makes it kind of a PITA to bump and keep season points in check, so out it goes!!

Makes my life easier during final audits!!! :woo:
