I just wanted to thank all of the people that came down to help out with the Snake Charmer school. Those people are:

Jack Hall
Jason Mauldin

Phil Fausz
Eric Peterson
Chris Peterson
Donnie Barnes
Jim Pastorius
Chuck Frank
Donna Frank

The event was very smooth, and other than the hot, but beautiful weather, there were no complaints :) Special thanks goes out to Scott for helping with the timing during the competition runs ;) The Viper club is a fun group, and they were very pleased with how things ran. Expect another installment of this next year. - AB

No need to thank me, the big kudos go to the course workers! I think they all got to rotate through the "busy" sections of the course.

I won't pretend that this event was a whole lot of fun for the workers. We would have loved more test and tune time, but it is a big revenue source for the *club.*

Events like this help us keep prices reasonable (membership and event costs), and allow us to have cool things like a bus and backup timers.

Scott

Kudos to all those that gave up a beautiful Saturday to help out. And like Scott mentioned, my hats off go the people that helped out on course. A special thanks to Mr. Buckley, without his hard work this event would not have been possible. He was at Sanford around 5:30 Saturday morning and was the last one to leave. We locked the gates around 5:45 Saturday night.

For those of you that whined about the non-points events and were not there to help out, shame on you :D

For the majority of the people on the list Aaron published, this was the third THSCC event they helped run in the past 5 weeks. When you toss in the November 16th event, that will be 4 events in 7 weeks!

If you get a chance, pat those people on the back. Because of their effort, THSCC is still the best.

Thanks to Aaron for organizing it!

I'd like to publically apologize for my comment at the end of the day, though. For those who weren't there, the event was effectively done, but folks wanted to take fun runs. Aaron asked the instructors and workers from the day to divide up into two groups...those groups would each work half and run half and would mix in with the Vipers who stayed (and obviously the Viper folks got to run both groups, which is fine since they aren't experienced workers anyway).

Eric and Chris Peterson and I were all sharing my car, but after a long day which was my first real day out of the house that week since being down with the flu (I promise, it had been a full week since I had symptons and I hadn't had a fever in three days so I wasn't contagious!), I was dead. They asked me (with everyone pretty much standing there) if I wanted to stay and run and my response was "Not if I have to work!"

That sounds horrible, and the way it sounds is not as I intended it. I had worked all day as an instructor and had put in a session working course during the autocross and was quite simply beat. I could have probably driven another couple runs, but it wasn't worth it since I would have probably collapsed during my work session.

So, it wasn't that I was lazy (this time!) and it wasn't that I was unhappy with the rest of the day. It was just that I was wasted and really just wanted to go home. It really is a well done event and I think everyone gets a lot out of it. I hope I get asked back again!

(And I don't think anyone else was bothered with the fact that some folks *didn't* want to stay, I just think my comment could have been taken in an unintended way.)
