Off hand, I didn't see the Standings for Top Gun on the site. Off the top of my head, I think it is only betwen two people mathematically (as long as they show and drops dont count) -- Carl Fisher and "The Alien".

Do we traditionally keep up with this, or is it going to be a surprise? :)

You can drop me out of it (if I'm even in the running) since I really don't care to compete in a PAX based competition...

Jim
- who also wishes you guys would drop this alien crap...

If it's Jim, I'm going to have the trophy plaque people (whoever they are) put Jim "The Alien" Feinberg on it.

Which reminds me, I never got around to putting my name on it for 2004... somebody needs to tell me what to do with this thing so I can have it ready for the xmas party.

Did you see what happened to Paris Hilton on South Park during the ho off? That's some funny stuff right there, I don't care if your mama was watching it with you or not.

Back on topic...

If we score the PAX results like we do everything else (9-6-4-3-2-1, drop your worst 2 events) then we end up with the following folks that I consider having a good mathematical chance (this assumes one event already being dropped).

1) Carl Fisher: 26 points
2) Mike Whitney: 23 points
3) Jim Feinberg: 22 points
4) Scott Johnson: 21 points
5) Brian Herring: 18 points
6) Dustin Fredrickson: 17 points

I bet no one saw Whitney sneaking back in there.

I realize there are a million other ways to calculate the "winner" and I'd be willing to consider a few of them (assuming someone else does the leg work).

Whoops.. my bad... I was doing a 10-9-8-7... and you get 1 point as long as you are at the event?

Thanks Scott. That was the exact question I had (scoring).

Ps. Congrats Scott!

Consider other methods... Calculating the median and average of some folks top 6 events (typically top 40 drivers... a few only have 5 events)

We still come up with a similar data set. Mike W. takes a beating for all the times he screwed around on street tires (but may well finish with the MOST #1 PAX finishes of anyone).

I'm no mathmagician, but I think these numbers tell us that Carl is exceptionally consistent. It looks like Keith Q. is easily the least consistent of the list. Maybe next time I'll break it out with STi vs BMW and tell him definatively what car he should drive if he wants to win.

Place Name Median Average
1 Carl Fisher 3.5 3.5
2 James Feinberg 4.0 3.5
3 Brian Herring 5.7 4.0
4 Scott Johnson 5.8 5.0
5 Mary E. Fisher 7.8 7.0
6 Dustin Fredrickson 8.8 8.0
7 Jason Mauldin 11.3 12.0
8 Kevin Allen 11.8 9.5
9 Mike Whitney 12.7 11.0
10 Jim Pastorius 13.2 12.0
11 Marcus McRae 14.3 12.5
12 Dan Ecclestone 15.3 17.0
13 Sally Johnson 15.3 13.5
14 Keith Quistorff 15.5 8.0
15 Matt McGrain 18.6 18.0
16 Miles Beam 19.0 18.0
17 Charlie Smith 19.8 22.5
18 Les Davis 20.2 20.0
19 Dick Rasmussen 20.8 22.0
20 Patrice Bousquet 21.7 23.5
21 David Teague 22.8 21.5
22 Jason Panciera 22.8 19.5
23 Rob Harvey 24.5 21.5
24 Kevin Butler 24.7 24.5
25 Donna Frank 26.4 25.0
26 Charles Frank 26.8 23.0
27 Bill Fitzgerald 27.3 23.5
28 Rob Lupella 28.8 34.0
29 Rick Butters 29.0 29.0
30 Vincent Keene 29.3 28.5
31 Arthur McDonald 30.0 30.5
32 Tonya Mauldin 31.7 29.5
33 Pj Aspesi 32.7 29.5
34 Richard Casto 33.3 33.5
35 Stephen Westerfield 38.3 36.5

Scott, I'm a little busy at work. Can I send you a few things to do for me? Just some database work and some suppliers to call...

Wow, I made the top 10 and did not buy a (new or used) set of tires all year :hyper2: Last set of tires was August of 2004...that was until last week :P

Mark Cooper reports a build date of Mid-1999 for the tires Sally and I might be running this weekend :)

First lesson for me:

Avoid an S2000 on Hoosiers like the plague. :cryin:

It figures, that's the car that's listed for my season points standings, it just keeps haunting me.

Is that not a good car and tire combination to have?
