Does anyone remember who had the radar gun from the 2004 season? Thought it might be fun to break it out again for the October event. If you remember who owned it, please forward their info.

Thanks!!!!

I hate working the course at autox and I must tell you about it, often.

Hmmm... Does this mean we'll get a 1/4 mile straight at the end of the course so we can get some entertaining numbers on the gun

I still own the radar gun, and last it was used (Kevin's autocross), it was functional.

It takes 8 AA batteries, so we'll want to buy some extras if we use it.

Scott,

Is there anyway you can test it to see if it's still working? If it's down and out, I'll have to come up with another idea.

Thanks

I like Graham's idea of the 1/4 mile straight!

Was that the one in Sanford a few years ago?

At an airport? You could have a dragstrip out there complete with pits and whoa down area.

Hmm, some high speed stuff would be a lot of fun.

We found out the 2nd gear rev limit for a lot of cars last time we used it. The cars with really short gearing (Patrice) were in 3rd and posted better times.

well is what i meant is that at the end of 1/4mile a lot of cars will be pushing 100mph.. that seems a little dangerous into the typical autox sweeper :P

or do you guys mean a seperate 'event'?

itd be cool just to have a fast launch/straigh shot to begin that i guess would be shorter.. it could be timed at an arbitrary length just for competition among us, or it could be like a 1/8th mile to be slightly more standardized. but who knows how accurate it will be. so i guess what im describing here is prosolo. sounds like fun!

That is called drag racing....they do have those kinds of events :)

A typical ProSolo launch is only about 20 yards...or 60 feet before the first element.

Unfortunately, drag starts are not fair to some stock classes. If we were to be 'gunned' it would have to be where the Sanford course design opens up the most...allowing the lighter less HP cars to use their carrying speed advantage and allowing the (typically) heavier cars with higher HP to accelerate into the 'trap' area.
