REGISTRATION IS OPEN!!

We will be having our yearly Intermediate/Advanced autocross school October 8th at the Maxton/Laurinburg Airport. Entry fees are on the registration $40 for members. Pay Pal pre payment is encouraged.

The format is yet to be finalized but we will split the group of 25 in half and have one timed "mini" course. The other half will work on some elements. Break for lunch, which is included, I hope to have a guest speaker at lunch or I will babber about busted Honda's. Then in the afternoon we will link the elements with the mini course and let the instructors take the students for rides and let students get some more runs in as well.

What time does the school start? It would be nice to be able to drive down that morning, if the school started around 9:00 or later.

Ryan,

What are the requirements to qualify for intermediate status? Rebecca wants to know if she is eligible. Also, my brother will be here permanently the week before, is there any restriction to him signing up being as he is not a THSCC member yet?

In the past it has been 4-5 events to qualify.

Is there any requirement that you should NOT attend the Intermediate School?

I would have a new suspension (again) by that point in time, so it would be a good time to get more seat time in a car I keep changing the setup to. Lemme know if I should NOT signup. I always feel like I could use more instruction and help with my driving.

I would say people who consistently make the top 5 raw and indexed lists are no longer "intermediate."

You should be instructing, dude.

Bah. I have lots to learn, and I am not nearly consistent with my car yet or like the way it feels. Maybe it is just due to all the 'nagging' problems I need to fix on it, but I still don't feel like I am the right type of person to instruct.

"Alright, all you need to do here is use nothing but right pedal. Now gogoogogogogogogogo!!"

Hmm... point taken. Maybe I just like the free lunches. :)

Brian-

Being a likely instructor for the school - and knowing my limitations as an instructor, I make my suggestion with a personal bias, and others will disagree I'm sure.

I think you might be better served running the school in a slower, less capable car.

- It's hard to instruct when hanging on for dear life.
- It's hard to instruct if the car is good enough to mask small mistakes.
- It's easy to give feedback on course when there is time to give feedback on course.
- An ill handling car will magnify the deficiencies of the driver.

My 2 cents.

IMHO you've not been at this long enough that you can't benefit from an intermediate school, the question is, how can you get the most out of it?

Scott

Brian should drive a Miata at the school.

I've seen Adam drive, he should be an instructor not a student at the intermediate school, sign him up!

I will be "frank", we do need more instructors.

Yeah, if you are or have been consistantly in the top 10 Raw/Pax, you can instruct.

Also, read my post carefully:

Could I go to this thing as a student? I have instructed before, but I think maybe there's a statute of limitations with regards to how long it's been since I've actually driven something in anger.
