We're still giving it a go in Laurinburg this weekend. We're not full if any of you want to participate.

Well, Sunday was being a blast until we broke the swaybar mount on the lower control arm on the Miata. :( But Eric and I are still here to help break down when everyone is done. Won't be too much longer now before everyone is out of tire. :) This Verizon broadband card is pretty cool...

Awesome! I wish I was there, but I've got to save the Hoo$iers for Sanford and L-Burg.

Is the format similar to the test-n-tune that we did earlier this year (skidpad, slalom, "p", etc...) ?

Wes: nope.

Matt: no, Eric just setup a pretty good sized course and we setup the timer display at the finish. I wasn't there on Saturday, but they split into two groups and just alternated working and running. Sunday had a pretty low turnout so we just all ran and every third or fourth car someone would take a run to setup cones from their car.

You guys missed probably the most beautiful day I've ever seen at Laurinburg. Not very hot, nice breeze kept the bugs away, and no sign of rain. Wonderful.

Big thanks to Scott Johnson for doing so much to get this event going. Another big thanks to Sally for her hard work, too!

Well, we have answered a couple of age questions this weekend.

1) No, we can't have a well attended event if we schedule it against Labor Day, high gas prices and a 24 hour event in Greensboro.

2) It isn't always hell-hot in Laurinburg in the summertime.

Sally and I drove the old Celica (her first time driving the old Celica, first time autocrossing a RWD car, first time without power steering, etc), and managed to finish off two sets of tires. No major mechanicals all weekend (but I did need my tool box).

The test & tune was a lot of fun. We ran about 75% of the traditional long course, starting on the main runway and finishing at the end of the "P." The quickest times were in the 56-57 second range. Some features were very similiar and others were different. The most interesting observation was that we were able to adequately staff the course with just 6 workers and we did not have a lot of coneage. For an actual event, we'd probably need 9 stations/people on course, but that certainly makes it much more manageable to run at that site than the full course. Though, we'd have to do it in the spring before the crops grow too high and start to impede the view of the start/finish for the timing & scoring team!

As Scott said, the weather was great which makes these weekends a lot more fun.

And another thanks to everyone who set this up - great opportunity for lots of good seat time on a fast, flowing course with few cones to look at and hit. Of course it was considerably less fun after run 3 once I discovered the first offset (not sure how I missed that when I was walking...), which cut down the 75 mph blasts !

Thanks to Eric and Scott for some good constructive feedback and I really enjoyed the ride in the Corolla !

My guess is that he meant the Matrix. Chris and Eric bought a Matrix Xr prior to having baby Kelly. - AB

Nah, either he's continuing the joke about the old Celica, or missed the joke about the old Celica.

It started with a comment from Eric? along the lines of "What year Corolla is that?"
