I'm planning to go and I see the Alien will be taking top spot in STT/STS2. Anyone else going? Banks may make it. I did this last year and I gotta tell you-the amount of driving is easily comparable to a TnT but with consistent timing results. The trick is to pick your best run to count as an official run. There is also a THSCC sponsored test and tune in Laurinburg that weekend. Just as much seat time (if not more?) and you dno't need to stay up all night.

Obviously I'm biased, though I understand the appeal of the 24 hours event and wno't hold it against anyone if they choose to do it.

I'm planning on going to the Lauringburg TnT on Saturday and then showing up at midnight for the 24 hour event. Yes, I am a glutton for punishment!

Hey Doug (or anybody else going), can you sign me up work a worker assignment? I'd love to get the work assignment out of the way first so if there are any spots from 12am-1am and 1am-2am, that would be ideal. I'm assuming they are requiring 2 hours of work like 2 years ago (missed last year's event) so I'd love to be able to work from 12am-2am.

Thanks,

Jim

Hey, I said I was a glutton but I never mentioned anything about being sadistic!!!

But seriously, I might consider it for '07 but I plan to run as many divisional/national events as I can next year. That was the plan this year but with the car getting developed more slowly than I would have liked and other life (threatening) crap getting in the way, it didn't work out that way. :(

I have a feeling if I tried all that *and* was responsible for local stuff, I might just go crazy. Besides, with Vincent already an officer, I don't think the club can handle 2 grumpy old men in the fold... :P

Doh! I guess I should read the schedule a little more closely. What I like about the 24hr event is that in either 12 hour block you have to work 2 hours. The remaining 10 you can drive as much as your brain, gas, tires and body will let you. TH TnTs are good but I never feel like I get in enough runs (and there is always a group that gets shorted in one way or another). At teh 24hr last year I actually cut out about 9:30 am on Sunday just from shear exaustion. I'd set my fastest time on my last official run and was going downhill from there, but I left completely satisfied.

Will do. I hope to get my assignments out of the way quickly too.

Eric Peterson taught me to get the worker assignment out of the way. So I always would work from noon to two on Saturday :) Only once did that bite me when it started to rain at 2:30 for the rest of the day

Jim...I think we can blame Eric for this addiction. He got me hooked on the national level 6 months into this thing! But I never listened to Eric about being an officier. Lesson learned....

It is all Eric' fault!!!!!!

I'm going. I absolutely love Dixie Classic. I also love Little Richard's, and will take any excuse I can get to eat there as often as possible.
