Wow, I said yesterday that I hoped I was busy at work today and got my wish for the most part.

Im glad that everyone had a good time and seemed to like the course for the most part. The only 2 problems, in my eyes, were overlap and grid. Next time out, with 120+ entrants, a non multi lap course may prove necessary. Grid also does need site specific needs like Patrice outlined. Forgive me, but I wasnt at the first Greenville event so I didnt know how it went.

The heat was neverending but we got 108 peeps 4 runs finished by 3ish. It seems that with the smallish site, an early start is actually pretty easy to do. We could have done 5 runs but with the heat, I still think 4 was the right choice.

It was a sucess in my eyes, I think we are poised for a great finish to the 05 AX season with lots of tight points battles all around.

See ya in Sanford!

Ewww. Brian, Keith, Marcus, you guys gonna take that? :poke:

Heck no!

In defense of us STi guys, we have at least a couple good 'excuses':

1. An ESP car is supposed to be faster than an STU car (check the PAX/RTPs).

2. Although I have zero complaints about the course design - it was excellent - our (STi) gearing is horrible for the course we ran yesterday. The first section was long and straight enough to top out second gear LONG before reaching the Chicago box. The folks working the left side of the course in heats 1 or 3 were probably wondering what the fool in the silver STi (that's me) was doing while riding the rev limiter for what seemed like minutes. I tried short shifting to 3rd on my second run, just to way overbrake into the C-box due to spending way too much time and concentration on the dreaded 3-2 downshift while steering through the C-box. Ditched that idea after 1 attempt and just resigned to suffering the consequences of staying on the rev limiter. Brian mentioned he had some success going to 3rd then waiting to downshift until the sweeper, not sure what Marcus ended up doing there.

3. If you drive an STi, you're a hack!

Well, as its been stated many times within this thread, GREAT JOB!!

Dispite the heat, everything else was great! Running under the lights on Sat was awsome!

Sally J...thanks for taking the time to show me how things operate in the world of T&S.

Dan D.....Congratulations! That was a well deserved win. Thanks for letting me ride along for a run on Sat night. After riding with you I can honestly say I believe this was the first of many wins you will have in the future. Great job!!

Not sure if anyone noticed, but the top 5 spots in the Novice class were separated by only 0.393 secs and the top 7 spots (which includes BOTH Gwen and Bernie Baake) were separated by only 1.26 secs. That's Awsome! Mr B and Mrs G, I still trying to figure out which one of you is having the most fun!!

Thanks to Les and Wes for "twisting my arm" to go for beer and wings after the event!!

Thanks to everyone for their hard work.

With 245/45/17s... about 58?

I was going through the first 1/4 of the course in 3rd, and downshifting at the first sweeper for second the rest of the time.

It wound up that a 2nd gear run the whole time was faster.

I have no excuse for my crappy driving. I was just pitiful yesterday. I would like to congratulate Keith as that was an AWESOME run on street tires with the setup I *used* to have on my car.

Great job Keith. Drop back to STU with us next season and show us how it is done :)

I didn't look at my speedo at the time and haven't checked it otherwise, but I know it's definitely below 60 mph, and I'd bet well below. (STi's are among the few cars that requires going to 3rd gear for the 0-60 test.)

^^yeh, i'm just giving you guys a hard time. an STi is a meaner machine than an R32 and i doubt many will argue w/ that.

I hear you on #2 though. its sort of harder for me though because i have a "soft" limiter that lets me get away w/ too much sometimes. my redline is 7200 and i know a few times i was at 7500. i felt like i spent a lot of time watching the tach and mainting a peak RPM before the box and before the big turnaround. my 2nd tops out at 58 stock @ 6500 (stock rev limit, my car is chipped to the 7200) and my tires are .3" under stock diameter. i didnt try messing w/ shifting to 3rd. There's a hard limiter up there somewhere but i havent found it yet.

And Keith Q, I was working station 6 saturday night and everytime you crossed the finish fire came out of your tailpipe.....that was AWESOME!

Thanks, Brian, but when it comes to driving on street tires, Jim 'The Alien' Feinberg showed us all how's it's supposed to be done.

I certainly wouldn't call 13th in the overall PAX standings 'pitiful', I'd gladly trade it for either of my prior two event finishes.

Great job to all that participated in the Saturday and Sunday courses. Both were fun and challenging and kept making me think of different lines to take. Other than my one spinning run  I was even pretty clean cone wise on Sunday. Damn Kevin is too damn fast.

I agree that we need to change the grid, maybe use the area in front of the building and have the pits extend farther to the right would work. It didn't look like all the spaces were full. Or use the middle of the other side for pits too.

This may be a good hot weather site since the heat improves the grip and we have shade as opposed to Laurinburg in the hot months. I think the concrete will be grippy in any season or with snow on it

Christine: Give me a call before the next event so we can co-ordinate wardrobe  :D

Ahhh, good to hear my aftermarket flame thrower is working. Next event I should have my multi-color neon lights hooked up.

Damn straight. I was in the pits changing tires when I heard 38.8XX and I thought the heat exhaustion was settling in, but it holds true. 5th fastest raw too.

I don't think I was driving Brian's car hard enough. That's quite apparent now after having heard both Brian's AND Keith's testimony on the rev limiter. I never shifted out of second, and I think I only hit the limiter on that first straight before the box. Guess that was the only place that I was "comfortable" at going full throttle. Next event, I'm back in my car, on slightly better tires than I was on in LB at the beginning of the season, and will be gunning for Dan and PJ

Unless one of you STI boys want's me to codrive with you again.

Oh, I am sorry. I always thought it was a given with him :)

Great job to you both :)

Now, I am off to wack my suspension with a hammer....
