Well guys looks like we held our own !!! Went through the results to see which club won the most class crowns,(if a n entrant was member of 2 or more participating clubs I gave each club credit) Triad pulled out 11 class trophies and ties Tarheel with 11 also.I think with Ken Kalill getting the overall FTD,that makes us THE FASTEST CLUB IN NORTH CAROLINA !!!!!!!

I think it would be a better comparison to compare classes where TSCC members and Tarheel members were competiting and see who won the most of the head-to-head battles.

If that is true for them, then I cannot disclaim their assertation based upon the event's results.

Brian-

Join their forum and point that out. Maybe with 365 days (give or take) to trash talk we'll actually have some interest in the event next year! Nothing like a good rivalry to get things going.

I'd also like people to let me know what format you want to see for next years NCAC. Multi event vs one big event.

The multi event deal was great when BFG gave out tires like haloween candy, but I just don't know if there is enough support now.

Scott

Oh, of course that is already done... I would not be a 'SUPER post whore' unless I did.

The way that Triad ran that particular NCAC was stellar. The amount of time that we were there and how it was run is 'ideal' in my opinion. If it wasnt for the 'quick' throughput, I am sure I would have died of heat exhaustion.

I guess the only thing that sorta 'blows' is if you were working Heat 2 or 4 the second day. With them stopping/end of the event, you wound up working more than your 1/3 counterparts.

Great event though. I was impressed.

One of the best features of this year's event (after the really FUN courses)was the fact that the whole course was visible to essentially everyone who wasn't driving or on grid (except a few worker stations) so when we were not driving we could be watching. Due to where I happened to pit/park I could even sit in my air-conditioned car, watch the cars run, and listen to the announcer on the radio. FYI, Karen Kraus is a VERY good announcer. I vote for working with Triad to use that site next year so please don't trash talk them.

I think the fact that the overall site (paddock, course area, grid, "air-conditioned bathrooms", clean pavement, pizza delivery, etc.) was so user friendly was a big part of the whole experience . . . at least for me.

Dick

Edit to add: I just noticed that I did not include my THSCC membership when entering. :( My mistake for which I appologize!

What a fun event! Very well run too...first class all around. I'm glad I decided to go even though I only attended for one day.

Another great day today. 5 runs each, a 45 min lunch break, trophies, *long* raffle and still home by 5:00.

Wow! With 121 entries there must have been a really quick launch interval.

Did anyone get a feel for the frequency of DNFs or cone penatlies?

Did anyone from THSCC get in-car video of the course?

There were only ever 2 cars on course at a time. They did not launch you until another car had crossed the start/finish line (40 second course).

There were virtually 0-cone penalties and VERY few DNFs on day one. Day 2 saw cone penalties frequently on only one turn.

I would have to say it was not VERY quick, but it was ran VERY smoothly.

The launch interval felt almost instantaneous! I couldn't believe how quick the first day went. I think the last group finished around 1 or 2pm at the lastest.

I really thing that the event went smooth for a couple of main reasons. The course was about a 35-45 second course both days so that about 10 seconds shorter than our events. So, with 600 runs a day that saves almost two hours.

Plus, the course was very straightforward with very few cones to be plowed over, so the start wasn't often delayed. I think the course was a blast to drive, especially on the first day. The second day redesign was tough for me personally after spinning my first run heading down to the uphill sweeper.

Great event nonetheless.

Regarding cone penalties: There were no areas where you "needed" to risk hitting cones in order to be fast. Essentially all the cones I saw being hit were from folks being a little greedy at the tight corner (almost pivot) on Sunday where turning just a little early results in the cone being hit by the inside rear tire.

Regarding DNFs: There were a FEW spin related possible dnfs (it is sometimes tricky to deal with off camber turns at 40 - 50 mph) and one highly skilled person who dnf'd the same spot twice by turning early for the last corner.

Basically both courses were highly technical "minature road race courses" (i.e. you needed to be on the best line or you were SLOW but didn't hit cones) without the "thread the needle between cones" requirement of so many of our courses this year. You also had to execute well in regard to utilizing the capabilities of your car. The sweeper was neat, especially on Sunday, since it was uphill and off camber. When is the last time you saw me "dirt tracking" a corner on all 5 runs and still having the fastest time in the class? WHEE

Speed range was actually relatively slow on the fastest parts: Jim P said his car did not hit the rev limiter in his relatively short second gear on Sunday (I didn't ask about Saturday but it wasn't any faster Saturday) and Miles' Vette didn't come close to maxing its 60 mph or so second. There were first gear parts on both courses for the Vette but the courses didn't feel "slow". The courses required constant turning combined with lots of heavy throttle and, of course, braking.

I really liked being able to see and video the entire course. Not only is it fun to watch but an education watching how differently powered cars took different elements. Saturday sucked for me, even though I basicly liked the course, but I really liked the Sunday course and got in with a 39.9. Now, all I've got to do is find a few seconds seconds overall! Better find them fast. I'm getting older by the minute! No kidding, we went just to have fun, enjoy the weekend and get some seat time, but we had a blast and will be back again. Met some nice folks from CCR too.

Congrats to all who came and took home wood!

This was an excellent event, finishing early with that hot weather was a big plus for us and the kids.
Saturday by 4pm I was in the hotel pool with Audrey and Sunday by the same time we where home.
The dog show give one more thing for the kids to spend time with. I'm not happy with my driving on Sunday
I think my second run was good for FTD until the last corner where I lost the back end and fishtail until the finish.
The subsequent 3 runs I was never able to duplicate the first 30 sec of the second run, but the finish was at least better.
At the cumulative of the 2 days I still manage 2nd Raw time. Les Davis is 3rd, going faster than me on Sunday, good jobs.
So, in all it was an event to attend. The format of 1 weekend is the way to go I think. If the Tarheel is doing it next year
I think we should try to have this site.

Regarding launch interval:
I was the starter for the second heat both days. We could have had even a shorter lauch interval, but the cars went out of sight for a few seconds. I loved the elevation change, but it did slow us down some. I'd rather be safe or prevent a car from being launched that would be red flagged due to a spin I didn't see. The starter's radio didn't pick up the course workers. We had to wait for the timers to tell us to hold the start and sometimes the PA announcer was all we could hear.
This was a great event and it ran almost perfectly.
Triad's performance gives us a high standard to match next year.

Is there a FTDTTE trophy? (Fastest Time Driven to the Event)

I got pretty lucky on Sunday on that fifth run and everything just fell into place, unfortunatley, I can't do that every time. :( I still wasn't quite fast enough to catch Jeremy Cox in CSP Miata fastest run Sunday. He was flying! Hopefully I'll be able to make that kind of run happend a little more often at future THSCC events and make you sweat a little Patrice, you've got it way to easy these days. ;-)

Les, enjoy it, it might never happen again!!!!!
No, frankly, you had a good day and I had kind of a bad one.
Who knows it can happen again, but you can be sure I will try my best that it doesn't happen again.

Yah, I realize you had a bad day and I had a good one. I'm just happy that in that situation I am close enough that I can take advantage. You must realize that you have a big red target painted on your back, that is the price you pay for being so fast. :)

I still have a few tricks up my sleeve for the Miata, and feel as though I'm still on a learning curve with this little black beast. My middle name is not "The Alien" but I wouldn't count on "never again" if I were you.
