You know, after running ~7 events or so, that sweeper finally caused me to drive while continuously looking ahead. I've *never* done that. So, besides being fun, it taught me the fundamental trick to this game. On my first run, as I was pushing through the turn, it was a damn good feeling to see that exit line -open- up versus glancing up and either seeing it or not seeing it.

This was one of the best designs in a while and I loved it. I didn't feel at a disadvantage in a 3600 lb car (3850 with driver!). Great job!

Oh, yeah - about the Miata comments... you didn't see any fifty million cone, 10 pace slaloms, did you?

Looking forward, it seems like there is a desire to have a course design where "Less is more". Would it upset the applecart to have a low 30 second course at Greenville that had fewer elements?

Im not saying thats whats gonna happen but my personal goal is to win the award for fewest cones used in a weekend, seriously.

I have never seen a 10 pace slalom...I dislike any that are less than 18  I love a 20-22 pace slalom with a fast entry....if you have ever driven an MR2 in 3rd gear through one....wow.

No, but I have driven an STi in 4th gear through one ;)

Less is more... hmm... I would like to see it. However, if you steal my idea about two piviot cones... :D

Why dont we make more of a gymkhana type course? THAT would REALLY mess people up ;)

Great weekend, and I liked the use of space there. It always is good to check my 1st gear synchros every year. In fact, didn't the AP Porsche STAY in first all the way to the turn around and back? Ah... must be nice :D

There's a guy named Mike Bullis that drives an AS '91 Corvetter ZR1 that would have driven the entire course in 1st gear. That car's first gear goes to 59mph  - AB

Good job Kevin and Chris! I liked the course. All of it. Even the parts I drove badly due to lack of patience. The sweepers are of course my favorite parts. As much as I hate turnarounds having to do them was well worth it for the rest of the course.

Good job everyone. I thought the event ran quite well. And a big thumbs up to the course workers enduring the heat in the direct sun for long periods.

I did try the 1st turnaround CCW once for fun. I carried more speed in. Slid into the whole and came out ok. But I didn't like the inside line coming back to the sweeper. Doing it CW forced me to slow down more coming into it and do the sweeper tight. But then coming out of the turnaround I got the outside line and could just get into it. Maybe not the fastest or best approach but the fun factor was much higher for me.

Other than the heat/humidity giving me yet another pounding headache late in the day it was a fun weekend. Thanks!

Graham

Take a look at the specs of that beast. For those not in the know, the driver is a paralyzed from the waist down. Mike is one of the nicest guys on the Tour too boot and a hell of a driver - AB

-Thanks again Kevin and Chris for making a fun course
-thanks kevin for the ride along

This was a really fun event, it was nice to come up early and not be rushed at all on Sunday morning.
Hanging at the hotel with everyone was great too....I cant decide which was more fun, my last run or story time with Randy :D

I was not in 1st, but in 2nd, i usually never go back to 1st gear, it's too short. 2nd top out at around 54mph.

Hardly any tire squeal from PJ and he takes 1st place in Novice. Coincidence? Maybe the old timers do know what they are talking about.

PS. "Story time with Randy" is better than sliced bread!
