Sorry about that, no I don't think you were and you didn't name names. :) I have been in a crappy mood the past few days and my post above reflected that. I posted in in the morning before work and in the drive in to work wished I had worded it differently. But I also decided to not edit it as I hate it when people edit their posts to hide stupid stuff they say. So, I can now say...

At the very end of the drivers meeting is when they said for two driver cars to run all in A. (I think the idea was to do all in A in one heat and then all in B the next to balance things out). I have no doubt that only a few people heard this and many (including you) didn't. I think it was just an on-the-fly attempt to make things run better on Sunday that didn't work as planned. ;)

Also, I didn't want anyone to read my post much earlier about being late to work and think I was whining or complaining about having my name called on the PA. I had no problem with being called over the PA to work. I was a bit unhappy at the time with the wording (attempt at humour that I didn't find funny at all) that was used, but **** happens. Anyhow I think a PA announcement is appropriate regardless of why someone is late (good reason or not). My post above was me just trying to provide an example of how the A/B two driver system doesn't work even when you try to do the right thing. I am also not saying we should switch how we do it either.

Matthew, I wanted to say thanks for contributing the suggestion. Feedback and ideas for improvement and discussion are what keeps things moving forward. Don't get discouraged if your idea isn't readily accepted. Change comes slowly sometimes to large organizations.

I know that some ideas which are now being implemented have been tossed around for as long as four or five years or more. Sometimes it is just a matter of timing, and in having leadership in power that happens to agree with you.

If you have a strong desire to improve things in the club, then that's wonderful! That makes you potential officer material. But before you get to a VP or Presidential position, you will be much better prepared if you have served in several other positions first for at least a couple years. Every position in the club offers a unique insight into how things run. Only by combining the needs and concerns of all the required positions do we end up with a well oiled machine.

When you have an idea about how to improve things, sometimes it helps to know if you are onto something by bouncing it off one or two people that have been around for awhile face to face first. They can help you decide if you have a good idea, or if you need to go back and tweak it some. This is a really good approach for newer members. Don't get me wrong.. sometimes the newer members have fresh insights that us old timers might not see just because we're so used to the "old way." But sometimes the "old way" is so firmly entrenched because it works so well!

Keep those ideas coming!

Miles

I think some clarification is in order for 2 driver cars.

Pick one....

A) For 2 driver cars, one driver runs in group A and the other in group B of the same heat, regardless of their work assignment.

B) For 2 driver cars, your group is determined by your worker assignment., just like any other driver. If both drivers are working in the same heat, they run in the same grid.

c) something I missed....

Oh yea, can some one clearly explain our work/run order ;)

All that's is nice but how about peoples with kids? Younger one that need to be supervise? Until we have an official worker station to watch kids. The current way work just nice. ( For 2 driver cars, one driver runs in group A and the other in group B of the same heat, regardless of their work assignment.) That way we can always have one of us with them. What we usually do is, I drive in A the first heat then Kathy in B, for the other heat Kathy drive in A and I drive in B. That way we minimize the change of numbers, seat and belts adjustments. One think that I would like to see is a reserved space for 2 drivers car at the beginning of each A and B lane. When I drive in A lane and I bring the car to the B lane I will find a place at the beginning of the lane or double park the car, something Kathy will not be incline much to do. So having a reserve space for 2 drivers car will help, that way, if you work the next heat, you will not be too late to report to work.

Usually our proven run/work/group/2drivers car/T&S run smoothly. Why try to change something because 1 event didn't work as clockwork like usual, when it's usually does with that proven system?

Do you and Kathy work the same heat?

In years past Patrice would work two assignments and Kathy would watch the kids. Now that's teamwork!

No, in our case it will help to have a reserved space in both lane for 2 drivers cars.

As a grid worker, I have no problem setting off the first portion of the grid as a two-driver area.

Funny, watching our store parking lot I wouldn't have thought any women would have reservations about double parking... LOL!
Seriously if Donna drives first, by the time she comes back to the B grid I have already staked out where I want her to put the car and direct her to the spot. It's NOT usually at the front of the grid so that I have time to check tires, change numbers, reset the seat and harness, put on my helmet and gloves and take a minute to breathe and clear my head so I can concentrate on driving, I HATE trying to rush thru all that while the grid worker is standing there waving me to the line.
