after L'burg i will probably do some suspension maintennance/ upgrades. bushings, shocks, trailing arms, tie rods. since i may go with an adjustable shock my interpretation of classing places me in STS. am i still in D class? this may all be irrelevant as i plan to stay novice for the balance of the season. most of this is 100K mileage work but too i want a track car to take shape. anyone care to interperate? thanks.

adjustable shocks are legal, and so is the other stuff if it's identical to what came on the car

you can download the rulebook at

thanks Kevin, i have it on file i guess i misread. i am not sure how adjustable the shocks will be and i may also go to a lighter flywheel as i need a clutch. i am sure that mod will move me out of stock class. i do not really understand car classing.

bushings may not be identical to OEM.

The shocks are most likely legal for stock class unless they move the spring perch (change the ride height), unless you plan to spend well $10k for them. An aftermarket flywheel will move you pasts STS and right to DSP.

I should also note that you are welcome to run NOV-STS and NOV-DSP, and most any other combination you can think of.

One advantage of the index classes is that you can make changes/switch cars and still keep running in the same class.

any shock bushing or even solid metal is legal in stock as long as the mounting location doesn't change. Suspension bushings of material/stiffness not = OEM is not. You might want to talk to some of the more experienced members about what changes will put you in a different class but doesn't actually give you any performance gain. There are a lot of snakeoil parts out there for the tuner posers that are a waste of money if performance is what you are after (Picnic table wings come immediately to mind). If you are going to get serious/competitive in AX then pick a class and build exactly to the rules. If you are just out to kill some cones for grins and giggles then build your car how you see fit and run whatever class it happens to land in. STS is a single class, there are no alphabetical subclasses in it like stock or street prepared has.
