If anyone is coming up for this and wants directions, local information, etc, let me know.

The site being used reminds me a lot of Laurinburg, LOTS of runway space, nice grippy asphalt (not concrete). It's not in the middle of nowhere though. There are gas stations, food, etc within easy driving distance of the site. And of course the requisite Dunkin Donuts. Those things are EVERYWHERE.

I'm going. Ayer was my first Tour ever... back in 2001. It's a good surface, even for pebbly asphalt. It's all runways, so expect 'transition 'til you puke.'

As for the town, well, it's a small town ;) My car tends not to fit in well there :) - AB

Is that because of the bling or because they have no dealer to fix it when it blows a major component up? ;-)

Sound Regs if you are coming up:

*All vehicles participating in NER-SCCA Solo events will be required to meet a sound limit of 90dBA measured at 75' at Devens and 94dBA at 50’ at NHIS. This may be measured from any side of the vehicle at any time and includes such noise sources as intake noise and tire squeal. Note that these two sound levels are virtually equivalent. Vehicles which meet one limit should be legal for the other.

*Vehicles such as those in FM and CM which have a GCR-mandated maximum length may exceed that length for the purposes of installing an alternate muffler or exhaust system. The additional length may serve no other purpose.

*After the first violation, the competitor will be required to demonstrate that an effort has been made to reduce sound levels before being allowed to make a second run. This determination will be made by the event chair or a designee. If the second run is still in excess of the allowed sound limit, the competitor will not be allowed to make any additional runs at that event and the competitor will be required to again demonstrate that improvements have been made before being allowed to participate at further events.

*Event staff reserves the right to red-flag a car in excess of sound limits and no re-run will be given.

I have to assume that these will apply for the National Tour as well. We are in serious danger of losing the site if we get neighbor complaints about this. The rule applies to all cars, including the mod cars. We have several A-Mod, C-Mod, and F-Mod cars up here. They can be muffled effectively.

Diane ~ who thinks A-Mod cars are pretty cool... even muffled.

Wow, that's a TOUGH noise restriction, that equal to major highway traffic noise @ 75'! Last time we were at Devins it was in the middle of nowhere, must have built up fast. Troopers used it for driver training.
Of course the monsoon kept the noise down for that one, only time they ever opened the course for SWIMMING in the middle of the event. Heyward Wagner was the starter and he was doing the backstroke on the start line! Donna got her first class win there.

It hasn't built up really any more, there are just some vocal residents (one in particular) that almost got us thrown out last year. No fun.

Get a load of his idea for the space... instead of us rich kids out there messing around, he'd like to see it turned into a wind farm.

Now, I've never been near a windmill farm, but I've seen how big they seem to be in pictures, and considering how much noise my ceiling fan makes when it's on "high", I really can't see why that would be a quieter option.

*sigh*

Boy do I miss the THSCC days... you guys have a GEM in Miles and he just keeps being able to persuage people to let the club on their lots/airports. If you can spare him, send him up here for a few months. We could use his help.

I will be there co-driving a D Mod car. Actually ran Ayer 2 weeks ago in my Z06 on street tires. The grip (or lack of it) reminded me of Sanford.

I'm guessing you ran with COM? I've never driven it on street tires, but grip with Hoosiers is great, and RA1s seem to grip really well also.

I'll actually be at Pig Roast weekend at NHIS, but if we have an early run group that weekend, I'll try to make it down to Ayer to say hey the the THSCCers that are up here. Good luck to all of you!
