I looked at the Hankooks and they are 15" maximum, so I would jump out of class unless we made a gentleman's agreement that I could run 15" wheels :wink:

What I read on the Avons is that they take a more runs to get to full grip, which may be ok for track, but AX grip may not be there. Les also said hot grip was suffering....... They are also abut $20 p/tire more than Kumhos

I think I will try to find the 710s.

Suggestions still appreciated. :)

Hmmm. I recall us discussing that very problem this weekend. Straight line traction goes down as torque goes up :wink: It's nice to see a Miata having the same problem I do :wave:

I tried to order a set of 710's last night because they said "low stock". I got a call this morning saying they were on back order for 8-10 weeks minimum!

Needless to say, I cancelled my order. I need some tires...so I need to do some research. I am thinking either the Victoracers or maybe even the Hoosiers (A3S05=expensive).

Anyway, just wanted to let anyone (who cares) that the 205/50-15 710's are now on back order.

You might consider the Avon Tech R-A, that is their new compound and it looks like it is available in your size. Pricewise it slots in between Victoracers and Hoosier AS05s, and I imagine thats where its performance lies as well. Maybe this new compound will hold up better in the heat. And you could be our guinea pig. :wink:

I have some lightly used 225 45 15 A3SO4s available. Just broke in (run at nationals) properly stored.

OK, Jim was right tire choice got made because of availability. Looks like Avon Tech RAs for me

The samething happened to me! I wanted the v710's, but I decided to go with the RA's as well. I am getting them installed this weekend. I guess we will see how well they work next weekend.
