I enjoyed the course..well done. It's the fact that I got beat by someone in a BORROWED STi that I'm having problems dealing with .. :) As always, I had a good time. Good job by all that were involved in putting this together.

Thanks for the kind words Mike and Vincent. If it wasn't for the people that work in the bus, our events would totally suck. We really do have a good group of people who care about having an event run smooth. You all are to be commended!!!! :cheer:  :hyper2: :kisses:  :woo: :user: :lol2: :lol4:  :sing:  :o :D

I think there were, what 10 audit fixes from a data set of about 600? Not bad at all. I think those were all cones not entered into the computer.

Actually it was 5 runs that had incorrect cones entered. Not bad by either todays standards or the TS98 days. The real good thing about AXWare is the ability to go straight to the run number and make the adjustments. The run number in the computer matches the run number on the audit sheet. Makes things real easy.

And Scott is right, when he came in to check on the audit, I was looking at my times trying to figure out the whole dial in thing. I love getting done with audit quickly!!!

Two comments:

1) Thank you to the set-up crew for sweeping the course. At least, it was apparent that the first turn was swept nicely. So naturally, I assumed I had all the grip there on my first run and spun. :o

2) This was my first time working the computer in T&S. It was easier than I thought, except when Les hid the raw sheet from me so I couldn't verify cone counts. We lost a couple of start calls from the starter when courseworkers broke in with cone calls. We started to panic the first time, when we realized that nobody in the bus knew how to correct it. Todd kept yelling "Red wire! .. No!... Blue wire!", but we solved it pretty quickly despite his expert guidance. :P

I'm kind of surprised that things went so well for my first time out as an event chair. Especially because we were especially ambitious.

- I think that it's great that we raised $1650, which is well above what I thought that we'd raise. Kudos to those that went above and beyond the suggested $20 for the bracket race. 8)

- No whining either, either at the event or later on with "suggestions". I thought that with such a tight second portion that I'd hear a lot of bitching, but any asides that I heard went away after the first runs. Apparently it walked a lot slower than it drove.

- We finished well in advance of when I thought that we would for the regular event. T&S guys (and gals) rock!

- The bracket race went well also; I wouldn't have believed that Feinberg and Pastorious both would be eliminated in the first round! Should we attempt to do this again in the future, there are a couple of subtleties that need to be worked out, especially for the n00bs doing the T&S for that, especially vis a vis the overlap.

- Thanks to all the workers for changing up on time too! That really helped us stay on time and finish everything up appropriately!!!

- New rule: Course workers must keep their shirts on. I left the slalom after Jimmy's Vees to see two dudes standing there reflecting sunlight right as I entered the chicane. It's hard to stay ahead of cones when you're laughing.

It's just as bad when you know it's coming because SOMBODY  comes back to grid laughing about it right before your next run.

To self: "Try to ignore it... Try to ignore it... Try to ignore it... CRAP, there went that slalom". I guess I need to work on focusing

Wes,

Don't assume that even though you didn't hear a lot of complaints about the extremely tight course that it was "liked" by all of us. :D My attitude is that the folks who do all the work to make an event happen get to choose the course style . . . whether I (who didn't do the work) happen to like it or not. That said, I'm sure it was a fun course for the majority of the folks at the event since most folks drive small cars. Conversely, it wasn't a "Corvette" course. :( Rumor has it that the L'burg course in June will be, however.

That explains why I only drove half the course well!

seat time seat time seat time...

On a side note...Sunday's course rocked!!! I even got the car sideways a couple of times and learned to gather it up and go. :D

Yes, the course was tight in most places, but it was fun, and it flowed pretty well.

While Subarus don't especially like to slalom, I do. And my favorite kind of is the 4-cone, diagonal-entry slalom. Trail-brake in, pitch the car back & forth a couple of times, and fly out at full throttle. What's not to like? :D I didn't enjoy the 3 chicago boxes in a row, but that was mostly due to turbo lag & a practically-stock suspension... if I'd had the 2.5RS instead of the WRX, it would've gobbled those up. The last of the 3 wasn't so bad, because it opened up & you could get on the gas coming out & get some speed before the straight slalom.

The lane changes were fun, too - the second one was fast enough to get a little thrill going through there. :D

But I LOVED the finish - out of 10 runs, I think I didn't drift that last right turn twice.

Steve,

Back in "the day" when I autocrossed Datsun Z's (with very little HP) my favorite courses were "Corvette" courses designed by Corvette drivers! I frequently was able to beat the Corvettes which happened to be in the same class as the Z on "their" courses. :D

Dick (obviously prefers relatively open "National style" courses)

Hmmmm, not sure which courses you are talking about. Maybe back in the day :) I think it is time you designed a course. I think Greenville still needs a couple of event chairs :o
