5th does not fit my definition of hosed. For a car with about 10% of the development time of others in that class, that is quite good.

I know if I went to nationals and came back finishing 5th, I wouldn't use the word hosed. Miracle, yes, hosed, no.

Hmm... point taken.

Kiko Sebiet had a REALLY well prep'd STi last year, and was the closest STi driver (and he is a good driver). I believe time wise, he was no nearly close enough.

No matter, that is something that has to be proven this year, and seen in Topeka.

We will see.

It was Tina's second autocross and she had a rougher time finding her way around the course.

I think courses at airports tend to be easier for novices to drive as they still are relying on being able to see exactly where to go next and there is less visual confusion for them to deal with as the course generally is in a straight line. On a site like this you have to know the course and not look for it while driving. I think that caused a number of DNF in a few key spots, but that is the way it goes.

this was definitely a tough course for novices and new AXers. Tina should not feel bad. The course does not flow like an airport course, one gate to another to the next and that makes it difficult not to get "surprised" by an element you forgot about. The also tend to look less like a "sea of cones" She was not the only novice and non-novice to have a difficult time remembering the course.

This event was the first event I've had a chance to attend this year and I'd like to say it was one of the best run Tarheel events I've been too. I'd like to say thanks to the new autocross VP's, they have really stepped up to the plate and learned their new roles well. I think they are really making good things happen.

I'd also like to say on the record that the course design was outstanding. I think it made the best use of the site, was fun to drive, and most importantly it was safe. Good job Art and Patrice

And Scott I'm not sure how you pulled off the perfect timing on the weather but, I have to say that I've never seen a better call. For those of you who weren't there I was teasing Scott for deciding to go with 4 runs and fun runs since the sun came out while the last heat was running. However he must have had a premonition or something because we got 4 runs, fun runs, and the course cleaned up right before the rain shower started.

Thanks to Art, Patrice and others who made this happen. Turned out to be a pretty good day. All in all most people I talked to were having a good day and fun at the event.

That was an excellent course! (even viewed by a plastic car driver). My times didn't reflect it but it was fun, fast, and safe on a site that has low grip and a solid perimeter. I'm glad they got all the cars out of there this time and let you guys use the whole site. You sure did make good use of it. After my impression of the site when we tested it last year I must say my opinion has improved a lot.

From a Novice Coordinator perspective I saw a couple of things. Our first 2 events had 25 Novices!! Apparently word is getting out we really aren't that bad a group to hang with. It is overwhelming having that many and trying to help them. So a number of them did not get more than the course walk. On an overlapping course that confused them. We did at least get to talk that over with a number of them. I think we got the number of DNFs down before their second runs. We are addressing a way to handle larger numbers of Novices.

Oh, and that last run as a team with our AWD hack member was a blast. Katie was laughing so hard she had us all cracking up. Kevin, you're a trip. There maybe some real talent in your driving and it is possible it might not be all based on AWD. There, I said it. Won't happen again

EDIT: This was not meant to sound 'pushy' or 'impatient'. This was meant only that I too was interested in results. I didn't want to type something extra as it was already said well enough, as is.

Oh well. I had to add extra words anyway.

We're working on the results. Between getting caught up here at work and home, I haven't had the time to get them in the right format yet. I apologize for the delay.

I would like to be the first to apologize for being 'pushy' or 'impatient' sounding about the results as well.

I realize that everyone is busy with work and has other things going on. I know with as busy as I am, I would have a hard time getting them up as well.

Thanks for the update!
